Im Falle von "Der Hobbit" von J.R.R. Tolkien hat die Blockbuster-Verfilmung der feinsinnigen Vorlage nicht geschadet. Eher im Gegenteil. Die Geschichte um den Hobbit Bilbo Beutlin stand lange im Schatten der Ring-Trilogie. Seit Peter Jacksons Verfilmung des Romans von 1937 ist sie ein wahrer Bestseller.
Dabei ist "Der Hobbit" weitaus zugänglicher als "Der Herr der Ringe" und der Roman war schon früh Gegenstand ambitionierter Adaptionen. "Der Hobbit: Das Hörspiel" entstand 1980 im Auftrag des WDR, hat aber bis heute nichts an seiner atmosphärischen Dichte verloren. Sprecher wie Martin Benrat, Horst Bollmann u. a. machen das Abenteuer lebendig.
Das Hörspiel-Ensemble lässt die unterschiedlichen Charaktere der vielen Zwerge und Abenteurer voll zu Geltung kommen. Zudem lassen die fantasiereichen Hintergrundgeräusche und die besonders sorgfältige Dramaturgie beim Hören wunderbare Bilder entstehen, die dieses Hörbuch unvergleichlich machen.

Excellent Adaptation!
Both this and the unabridged audiobook are amazing. I recommend reading both! They offer completely different experiences and pacing. This story doesn't feel cut off despite being abridged.
