About this listen

Sir Peter Ustinov's beautifully crafted autobiography is told with exquisite wit and insight. From his birth in April 1921, it spans his extraordinary career as actor, playwright, film star, and director, confirming his early belief that he is 'irrevocably betrothed to laughter'. Ustinov's renowned gift for mimicry is exploited to the full in Dear Me. Eccentric relatives, school masters, sergeant majors, and manic Hollywood moguls are all brought unforgettably to life.©1997 Peter Ustinov (P)2004 Penguin Audio Entertainment & Celebrities Entertainment & Performing Arts Celebrity

Dear Me, Mr Ustinov!

Given the depth and breadth of Mr. Ustinov’s experience with the boundaries of societies and his own eye to viewing his life as a series of amusing anecdotes I can only lament that he did not favor us with a little more!

Highly entertaining

Peter Ustinov's memoir is a gem in print, but the life and vocal nuance that his narration bring to "Dear Me" are more priceless still. Would that he had narrated an entire shelf bristling with audio books!

Best. Memoir. Ever.

One of the best memoirs ever written. The best ever narrated by its author. RIP Peter Ustinov.

Delightful and introspective look at life from beginning to end.

Sir Peter, you will be missed. Thank you for telling your life story, so honestly and insightfully. I believed you led a good life and loved your family with all your heart and vigor. Like everyone, we try to find the answers, not knowing how short time is. What a life.

Good bye Dear friend.

Boring uninspired woes about PUs life

I was expecting to read about the funny things that happened in this man's life because he is so funny in a lot of his performances. But this was a book of remembrances that I would not like to remember about the man. It was uninspired and not funny.--More about his relationship with his parents and how he played that out over his lifetime.
