About this listen

Exotic luxury cruises to the Bahamas are supposed to be fun and relaxing. This trip starts as a routine investigative job for a woman who works in disguise and undercover, using her beauty to entice men to reveal their secrets. The exciting and sometime harrowing is expected, but this job will be like no other.

Her boss is aboard - as is a mafia enforcer with murderous ties to her own family. She chases suspects through the tropical islands - and finds herself in physical confrontations with knife, fist and firearms. By the end of the cruise, the deck is awash in blood. Can she survive a deadly fun cruise - and her boss?

Perfect vacation reading

Disclosure: I received a free Audible credit in return for an honest review of this book

Deadly Fun is the story of a female sleuth working a case on a cruise ship, and the setting provides a fun twist on the usual detective story. While not my usual genre preference, Deadly Fun would be perfect vacation reading (especially on a cruise), allowing the reader to fantasize about being an undercover investigator amidst all the other tourists. Recommended for readers who enjoy stories featuring female investigators.

A really great story...

This is a really great story. It has action, intrigue, suspense, mystery, crime, and romance! What more could you want?
Overall, I enjoyed the narration. He was very enjoyable to listen to. I only gave him four stars because of several mispronounced words. That kind in ghjnv drives me a bit crazy.

Great Summer Listen

When two FBI investigators (Lance and Lolita alias Dan and Linda) take a Caribbean cruise to catch some Mafia bad guys, a lot of suspense and mayhem ensue. I really enjoyed this book and was entertained throughout the performance. The author researched her subject and wrote intelligent and interesting characters and situations. I recommend this audio for a fun, entertaining listen.

Another well-written story from a very good author

Deadly Memories, my third enjoyable read from author P.M. Richter. Well-written with intriguing characters. 10-hours 50-minute/359-pages. The second book in a row that begins slowly, almost to the point I was wondering about it (but after having read 2 of her books previously I knew better), but then it takes off, building to a crescendo, wait no spoilers here, buy the book, in whatever format, read & review the book. I was given an Audible copy of this book a year ago & am just getting around to listening to it. I'm voluntarily reading & reviewing it. Gregory Salinas’s excellent narration adds to the book's enjoyment. I'll definitely be reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Narrator was terrible

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Try reading it, avoid the audio version

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I'm not sure how much was the narrator and how much was the story, but it came across as written by a 15 year old girl hooked on Harlequin romance novels. It was cheesy, which can be okay, but cheesy combined with the narration was just annoying. The phrase "it was" was used far too frequently.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gregory Salinas?

Anyone. The narrator was so focused on enunciation that it sounded weird. "It was" became "It twas", etc. It quickly became tiresome. There is little difference in characters voices which added to the weirdness.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Sadly, no. I couldn't finish it. I somehow made it to the last 47 minutes, but it's dragging and is too painful to finish.
