About this listen

How far would you go to protect a dead man?

It’s the year 2000 in Dublin and, following some traumatic events, Detective Bunny McGarry is taking a well-earned break from the force. However, just because you’re not looking for trouble doesn’t mean trouble isn’t looking for you.

Bunny’s former partner died in the line of duty under dubious circumstances, but his murky background has suddenly resurfaced, threatening Bunny’s reputation as well. As if that isn’t enough, a young boy is in danger and a woman from the big fella’s past is trapped in a loveless marriage to a monster. They both need Bunny’s help, but he must get to work fast - it seems someone is trying to frame him for murder....

Dead Man’s Sins is a continuation of McDonnell’s critically acclaimed best-selling Dublin Trilogy and mixes high-octane thrills with a distinctly Irish wit.

Hilarious

I haven’t laughed out loud listening to a book this much. My favorite series ever! Characters are so great. Narration makes the story so entertaining. I’m sure it’s a great read because the writing is excellent, however, I’d recommend listening to get the best experience.

Love me some Bunny

What a joy and a refuge from the woes of the world it is to hang with Bunny McGarry for a few hours. Smart and hilarious as always. Thanks White-haired Irish dude. Keep em coming.

Another hit in this series!

I love Bunny and his friends! This is another laugh out loud story that also addresses some of society’s ills. I’m on to read the next one.

Perfection

If there were only one author I could read, Caimh would be the one. Every book is fantastic.
Morgan Jones is also the best narrator.

Use Caution Operating Heavy Machinery

May Cause Excessive Laughter.

This book has my all-time favorite Ferguson rant, but I almost had to pull the car over the first time I heard it.

Addicting

If you can keep the order of prequels, sequels and all the permutations of such straight, you might be able to keep all of the players and their histories straight.

Sometimes Caimh’s story seems like a set up for his hilarious one-liners and even five or six liners. For instance you haven’t experienced laughing until you tune in to Bunny’s take on fitness gyms. You’ll be on the floor doing workouts for your funny bones and internal organs. Same for Deccie’s storytelling in the hospital. Extremely hilarious.

Jones does a great job of narrating and has the accents down cold. His narrator tone can be a bit acerbic, but the characters are spot on.

We will keep going for the next book if we can figure out which one it is. Sometimes the in order lists help if you know which series you’re in.

This was my second listen for this book and I have to say I still found some surprises. I think that means I forgot some of the plot twists. But it was entertaining and Bunny’s character is addicting.
