Love Caroline Leavitt’s work!

Her stories and characters always keep me riveted. I couldn’t stop listening and finished this in three days.

Not developed enough

I felt like this had a lot of potential but the story never really developed. it felt like a lot of loose ends that never got tied up.

Well-Drawn Story and Engrossing Characters

A little slow going for me in the first half, but the second half was SO good! I found the characters and the plot to be so enthralling. I was really rooting for daughter and mother, Ella and Helen. They're such earnest and caring characters. They both suffer from their choices, shame/guilt, and how they feel about the actions of others. They were such complex characters. I really liked how they changed and developed through the novel. I wasn’t sure where things would go as they progressed, but I was engrossed and so invested. I really enjoyed this wonderfully written novel.

The resilience characters continued to demonstrate. They started over many times only to start over again.

The narration of Ella did not mature keeping her an adolescent. Her voice did not reflect maturation.

Excellent! Unputdownable

This book was excellent from start to finish. Couldn’t stop listening. Great character development and fabulous narration.
