Incredible start to series

I love the beginning of this and can not wait to start Ruby's story. The laugh the narrator does when she is buying the daggers is great he did a wonderful job.

Any additional comments?

Mirabelle was desperate to give her husband children. She went to an old blind hag to buy a jeweled dagger as she had heard that it would insure she would have a male child. She only had enough money to buy four of them. The hag told her she had to name the girl children after each stone in the daggers ---- Ruby, Amethyst, Amber and Sapphire for them to find true love. Mirabelle wanted a forth one and tried to steal it. She got caught up in her greed and her story is one to behold. Such pagan and intrigue is written in this tale. It is setting us up in great stories to come.

Excellent prequel!!!!

What an excellent way to set up a new series. I read book one first (see my review of 'Ruby , daughters of the dagger ') and came back to the prequel. I'm glad I did although it's not strictly necessary.

Wonderful is the word for the books and the narrator.

A great prequel!!

Author Elizabeth Rose writes an exciting and enticing prequel to her Daughters of the Daggers Series. This prequel also sets the stage for for the MadMan MacKeefe Series. I thoroughly enjoyed this prequel, as I became familiar with the backstory of Ruby, Sapphire, Amber & Amethyst, as well as the birth of their only brother Onyx. I highly recommend this book and both series by Elizabeth Rose.

Be careful for what you wish for

Great beginning of a series. I look forward to the other books. Maribel wanted sons for her husband, but because she was greedy, the old hags prediction, will be the death of her and her son, but her 4 daughters will live on in the books. Great narration.
