About this listen

In this provocative history of contemporary debates over evolution, veteran journalist Tom Bethell depicts Darwin's theory as a 19th-century idea past its prime, propped up by logical fallacies, bogus claims, and empirical evidence that is all but disintegrating under an onslaught of new scientific discoveries. Bethell presents a concise yet wide-ranging tour of the flash points of modern evolutionary theory, investigating controversies over common descent, natural selection, the fossil record, biogeography, information theory, evolutionary psychology, artificial intelligence, and the growing intelligent design movement.

Bethell's account is enriched by his own personal encounters with of some of our era's leading scientists and thinkers, including Harvard biologists Stephen Jay Gould and Richard Lewontin; British paleontologist Colin Patterson; and renowned philosopher of science Karl Popper.

Indeed!

Very objective and well studied book. However, it is not a lite read and should be read at least twice.

Great read! Science deniers on the left beware!

A well laid out argument that darwinian evolution is but another religion. The author goes into painstaking detail about the flaws of natural selection as the basis for all life. Intelligent design believers (like myself) are likely the only ones that will listen to, or read, this book. If truthseeking is what science is supposedly about, supporters of evolution should take note of the creationist side of the argument. But they likely won't... Because, after all, as true "believers" in darwinian evolution, an argument against their preferred religion (evolution) is too unnerving as it shifts the wind in the direction of their house of cards. I highly recommend this read!

strong argument for those of us that still believe

This is a well researched book that presents arguments that seriously question evolution. i feel once you pull the rug out from Darwin, I feel Atheists become very nervous.

Good, but not what I'd use to prove ID is true

This was a very interesting listen, and offered a rare window into the holes in the narrative of evolutionism. The focus of the book is primarily to expose the philosophical problems with evolution. While it does delve into more substantial claims, I think there are better books to read that focus entirely on those matters. All in all, this is a book you ca appreciate as a creationist, but that wouldn't convince many evolutionists that their theory is wrong.

Mostly great

This is an overview of the current state of the debate. Therefore, it has strengths and weaknesses of such a format. Beginning was slow and I wasn’t sure I was going to finish. But after about 45 minutes in, clarity of writing improved. Some points made after the halfway mark are quite fresh and thought-provoking, even to someone who has followed this debate for many years. Highly recommend.

Darwinism is NOT EVEN REMOTELY Possible!

I purchased the Kindle Version with Audible Feature included at NO extra charge (free). The 'Theory Of Evolution' is and always has been a tall tale (actually an out and out lie) & absolute rubbish.

Any way it's sliced, like the title implies, it is based on a HOUSE OF CARDS that is easily knocked over once the real evidence is considered instead of the hype.

Do yourself a favor and read or listen to this book! Tell others that you love and care about. You will be VERY happy you did!!

Informative work.

Reveals the fragile nature of the idea of macro-evolution proposed by Charles Darwin many years ago. We now know that macro-evolution has not been observed in the laboratory nor in the fossil record. We also now know that our genomes are deteriorating with each new generation, not improving as we would expect in the materialist neo-darwinian worldview.
