About this listen

Tough, smart, and seriously ambitious, reporter Jacqueline "Jack" Dolan despises the secretive clan of shape-shifters known as the Ikati - and has become determined to destroy them. After she writes an editorial arguing for their extermination and turns public opinion against them, the Ikati vow to fight back. They plot to send one of their own to seduce the reporter, then blackmail her into writing a retraction.

Women practically fall at the feet of hulking, handsome Hawk Luna, and Hawk relishes the idea of conquering and destroying the fiery redhead who’s caused so much trouble for his kind. The last thing he expects is to develop real feelings for her, but their liaison awakens a hunger in him that he cannot deny. He kidnaps Jack and brings her to his Amazon jungle colony, but the two lovers are soon embroiled in deadly colony politics and threatened by a looming global species war.

As the danger around them grows closer, Jack and Hawk’s forbidden passion may build a bridge between two ancient enemies - or cost them both their lives.

The Love

The love stories are getting better. Story line is great but not enough “action” in the bed room for me. Hahaha!

great book bad narration

I love these books. I'll be starting the final right after I write this review. The woman narrating this needs to brush up on her language skills. Everytime she pronounced the "I" in alejandro it distracted me from the story.

Awesome book and narrator..

Any additional comments?

Where to begin? I think this was my favorite book of the five. And in my last review I said I hope this is the last one because I'm just tired of the depravity and evilness of the bad guys: Caesar, Thirteen and Jahad. However, the author left it kind of a cliffhanger but when you read the summary of the next book, Into Darkness, due out in October, it doesn't say anything about the war coming to the Ikati and it has 2 people who were not in any of the books in this series. I would hate to think that the author is just going to leave it that way, with Jenna, Leander, Honor and Hope standing on a hillside. The End!!!
Before I forget, I do want to say how happy I'am that Weymouth was killed. I hated him from the very first book. And, it turned out the Caesar wasn't immortal after all. LOL..
I did, absolutely, love Hawk and Jack. I think they were the best hero and heroine or maybe it was Ember and Christian. Or Jenna and Leander or... Oh, I don't know which two were my favorite...

As to the narrator: Wow, wow, wow. Ms. Dawe did an outstanding job on this book. I just love the voices she gave to Hawk and Jack. I know she didn't pronounce Alejandro correctly but he was such an a$$hole anyway that he deserved it. Keep up the good work Ms. Dawe.

Anoother Page Turner

Would you consider the audio edition of Darkness Bound to be better than the print version?

I used immersion reading with this book as I couldn't put it down

Any additional comments?

Cesar is getting more scary and successfully turning humans against the Ikati. Worse, Jacqueline Dolan has written a respected journalist has written a scathing article about the Ikati that is putting more pressure to make all Ikati the enemy that needs to be destroyed. Enter Hawk from the Brazilian colony of the Ikati, can he change Jacqueline's mind? Can Cesar's hedonistic behavior be stopped? 5 days until the last book in the series is released, I can't wait. I am finally getting use to the narrator at first I wasn't happy with her but she has grown on me.

Every book gets better

Love this book. First series I've ever read that I loved the books more near the end. Thank you for not dumping characters and rendering their stories irrelevant!

Darkness Bound

Darkness Bound by J. T. Geissinger was par for the course! This is an excellent series. Each book is very different but ties in with characters from other books appearing. The ending is exceptional! The narration was exceptional also!

Excellent

Any additional comments?

Absolutely loved this book! It's the penultimate book in the series which is kinda sad cause I don't want the series to end! In the previous books we've been to the English colony and the Rome colony as well as a couple of places in between but this book takes the story to the Brazilian colony and I loved seeing how different they were to the English and Rome colonies. They're more isolated and so seem to be even deeper into the old ways and old rituals that the other colonies no longer celebrate.

I loved the characters of Hawk and Jack and seeing them progress from enemies to friends to lovers on their journey. Jack always prided herself on her open-mindedness and not being a racist like her father but she was blind to her own bigotry until it was pointed out by Hawk and further emphasized during her time with the colony.

In particular the events at the Punishment Tree presented a poignant and beautiful scene in my opinion. I won't say what happened as it's a moment that each reader needs to experience for themselves but it is one of the scenes in the book that profoundly touched me and the scene of Jack's first heartfelt soul deep epiphany that significantly changes her opinion towards the Ikati people.

I also loved her speech near the end. She and Hawk were a perfect match and really brought each other to life and healed each other in ways no-one else has ever been able to. I also love Hawk's Gift, one he shares only with Jack that no-one else knows about and is one that has never been heard of before in Ikati history!

I really loved getting to see some (not all) of the old favourites like Jenna & Leander and Morgan & Xander, none of the Italian Ikati though or Christian, though Christian is mentioned so we get a little update on how he's doing through Jenna. I also love Jenna and Leander's twins! I admit they are in some ways a little creepy but also very very special and also never seen before. I can't wait to learn what else they can do and what surprises are still in store with them and Jenna!

4.5 Stars!

This one is my favorite so far. I like that Jack was brought to the colony and most of the story was done there. I still hate that the sadistic alpha's are still a thing in this book. It does look like that might finally have gotten taken care of. It should have been done sooner. I loved the conclusion of Ceasar. I had not guessed how they would take him out with his immortality but it was brilliant. I'm intrigued by how things are going to be handled in the last book especially how this one ended. I'm off to go read it!

Panther, White Dragon and Charcoal Briquet

What made the experience of listening to Darkness Bound the most enjoyable?

I love Angela Dawe male reading voice and found this author. Good use of imagination and this fantasy genre. Had some humor and would like to see more i.e. charcoal briquet status

What other book might you compare Darkness Bound to and why?

shorter version and a bit better twist on Christine Feehan's type stories

Which character – as performed by Angela Dawe – was your favorite?

Lucas and the White Dragon. Jack our hero was great as she is tough as nails.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I did and the part where Jack trades places makes you bring out a tissue.

Any additional comments?

I have been buying a few series out of order as I try a new author by sale or by rating code. This allows a listener not to have to invest in a series they may not like, but you have to go back to #1 if you really like the characters. Audible, please put more #1 books of series on sale.
