About this listen

In #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken’s scorching series, revenge is a justified pleasure…

Isla made one teeny little mistake. Now she and her PI company, Dirty Exes, are being targeted by one seriously angry and furiously sexy ex-quarterback. Jessie freakin’ Beckett. But there’s no way some NFL superhunk is going to take her business away. If only he didn’t make her so hot - and bothered.

Jessie wants payback for a ruined reputation. His plan? Top secret. His hard-to-hide arousal for Isla? Not so much. Especially when they let down their guards and sneak a kiss. Like any juicy scandal, it goes so viral, so fast, that only a good lie can combat the bad press. Mortal enemies in a fling? No way. Um…this is love!

Actually…could it be?

Isla’s not faking it. Jessie can’t. As the game of let’s pretend gets real, Jessie forgets all about revenge. That’s the problem. His plan is already out of his control. Now it could undo everything they’ve been trying to build. Coming clean may be the only thing that can save it.

Good book, not so good narration

This book overall was good. I disliked the female narrator, Lucy Rivers, because she couldn't stay consistant with the male character voice. At first, he sounded dopey, then he was just strange and in the end, it was terrible to have to listen to her! The male narrator, Teddy Hamilton, was great with all voices. I would have enjoyed this more if he was the only one narrating or if he did all the male voices and Lucy just stuck to the female voice. It was a bit disappointing because I really enjoyed the first book of this series and was looking forward to this book. :-(

Another Hit!

I am a big fan of RVD book and was waiting for this book after finishing Dirty Exes. I love the funny side of the book, the quirkiness of the heroes, the amazing banters and of course the ending.

cute

cute story, not as good as the first, and the female narrator was really bad at reading the guy parts.

Rainbows and Red!!

I selected this book because of Teddy Hamilton. I'll listen to something new then need my Teddy fix. He's awesome and I love him!!!
I didn't give 5 stars on the performance because of the female narrator.
Sorry, she was good as Isla but I cringed when she was doing male narration.
But I did enjoy the book, especially when Teddy was narrating. He was great as Jesse and I emphasized with him.
I've listened to other books by RVD. Just have to sample more with different narrators. We all know the narration is what makes it worth listening to vs. reading sometimes.
No need for me to resummarize but I loved Gupo and the chickens. This book made me laugh out loud a lot.

Dangerous Exes

SO freaking good! Jessie's reputation was shredded by his ex-wife in the first book after she hired Isla's company. They have never made a mistake before but when he was caught meeting with his divorce lawyer several time who just happened to be a beautiful blonde and was texting Blaire repeatedly they were convinced he was cheating. It wasn't so, his wife was the one who was cheating but she turned it around and now he has lost his standing with the charities he was chairing and he is mad and out to bring down Isla's company. Too bad they also have so much chemistry it is combustible and are caught by the tabloids and have to figure a way out and so starts the rumor they are getting married! So much fun and sexy fun and wait until you get a load of Isla's crazy aunt.

Funny

Another cute book in the Dirty Exes series. My one complaint wasn’t even about the main characters in this book. It was about the H and h from book 1. Collin kept referring to Blair by saying “I’m still getting laid” like that was the only reason he did anything. I loved them in book 1 so this was a bit of a disappointment to revisit them and Collin sounds like a frat guy.
But that aside. I thought this book was hilarious!! The scene with the headache tea had me laughing out loud!! And Gupo was a force to be reckoned with! This was lots of fun. I enjoyed it very much!

Liked the story

The second in the series I liked this one the best. Isla and Jessie are at war with each other because in Jessie’s mind they destroyed his reputation by working for his wife even though he knows his wife lied about the information which was that he was not a cheater. Isla is trying to protect her company from Jessie so they began a game of cat and mouse and trying to stay ahead of the other. Turns out they are more alike than either thought and what comes out of it is they go from enemies to lovers even though they tried really hard to fight the attraction. Although I generally enjoy Lucy Rivers I wasn’t a fan this time of her male narration. If you can get passed that you should enjoy the humor and lol moments.

Bad Narration

Lucy Rivers was AWFUL in the audiobook!! I've listened to some audiobooks she has narrated and they weren't that bad, but this one.. I had to struggle through it. And boy was it a struggle!
Teddy was also a little off on this one too, but he will always be one of my favorites and can do no wrong.
