About this listen

From the world of Beautiful Creatures - a dangerous new tale of love and magic continues in the sequel to Dangerous Creatures.

Love is 10 kinds a crazy, right?

Let me put it to you this way: If you can get away, run. Don't walk.

Because once you're exposed, you'll never get a Siren outta your head.

Some loves are cursed. Others are...dangerous. Especially the love between wannabe rocker and quarter Incubus Wesley "Link" Lincoln and Dark Caster, Siren, and bonafide bad girl Ridley Duchannes.

But now Ridley is missing, and Link was with her - right up until she vanished. Determined to find her, Link reunites with his New York bandmates and the mysterious Lennox Gates, who wants Rid for himself. Together they travel to the Deep South, find the crossroads where blues guitarist Robert Johnson made his deal with the devil, discover a menagerie of Casters locked in cages, and uncover an evil in New Orleans that threatens to destroy them all.

This time love might not be enough.

Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, the number-one New York Times best-selling coauthors of the Beautiful Creatures series, deliver their signature blend of mystery, suspense, and romance, with a healthy dose of wit and danger in this sequel to the instant New York Times best seller Dangerous Creatures.

Critic reviews

"In the Gothic tradition of Anne Rice.... Give this to fans of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight or HBO's True Blood series." ( School Library Journal)
"The authors ground their Caster world in the concrete, skillfully juxtaposing the arcane, magical world with Gatlin's normal southern lifestyle.... [Fans will] plead for more." ( VOYA)

GOOD STORY!! LOVE LINK AND RIDLEY!

What made the experience of listening to Dangerous Deception the most enjoyable?

I thought the narration was great, and the story was fun!

What did you like best about this story?

The angst..this one is more Links story in my opinion....

What about Kevin T. Collins and Khristine Hvam ’s performance did you like?

I totally love both these narrators, I have listened to many of their performances....

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, a little of both!

Any additional comments?

I love these writers and narrators....but I didn't think this book was as good as book 1....I did totally love it, but wasn't left with that book high you get when you have just listened to something that can never be matched by any other performance ever...This is more of a story about Link and how he cant live without Ridley...yes she is in the story too, and as evil as ever and getting worse...but this series is just not as awesome as Beautiful Creatures is...of course I will continue it though...lol Why? Because I love Ridley and Link!!! lol

Good Sequel, but some gaps

I have loved every book in this series and this one is no different. When you fall in love with characters you'd follow them to the end of the earth. So, that said, I really wish that the new characters would have brought a little more background. Link and Knox fighting over Ridley was excellent, but my heart goes out to Link. He's an amazing character that deserves happiness, so I sure hope they are writing another book. Also love John Breed's character. Good humor through out.
Definitely worth the read, but read the series in order. This is not one that can be read standing alone.

Wow! Didn't see that coming...

We start with a car crash and no one can find Ridley but someone has...and he has BIG plans for Ms. Duchannes.

Lennox Gates (AKA "Knox") goes on his own to find the labs where Ridley is hidden while Floyd and Link go to Oxford to find John Breed. Link thinks John will know how to get there. Link, Floyd, Necro, Samson, Liv, and John are forced to go on a long quest to try and find the labs and rescue Ridley. They have no idea that Knox has got there first and his discovery will change everything!

She has been injected with some serious powers that have changed her...and not in the best way!
