Story
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Story
Who is Audrey Hoedemaker? It's a question her sister Maureen has heard more times than she can count, and she doesn't know what the short answer would be. Little sister, troubled teen, backpacker, musical theatre coach, con artist, childcare worker. Murderer. A tragic, traumatic childhood casts a long shadow on the Hoedemaker sisters. Maureen has worked hard to move beyond the violence of the past and build a good, honest life for herself. Audrey, however, just can't seem to do the same, careening from one state of chaos to another.

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He'd ride up on his white steed and break the curse I've been fated to carry since the day I was born. Funny how things changed over time, how the fairytale twisted into something far more crooked—and darker—than I ever imagined. In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was.

Great Read
Dangerous Captive (Brooklyn #2) was a great read by Kelly Moore. John Remington is believed to be dead by his family. He has spent the last two years being held captive but they never broke him. He must prove to them that he is loyal to their cause. Unfortunately his next target is Brooklyn’s father, the President of the United States. John fights for his family and his revenge. This was a great read and I can’t wait to read more in this series. I absolutely loved listening to Seth Thompson’s narrations.

Brilliant 🎧📚🎧 Twists, Action & Thrilling Suspense!
This book is amazing with some awesome twists, action and thrilling suspense. Kelly Moore continues to bring it in her sequel to “Deadly Cures” a fantastic romantic suspense. She is a gifted author and I thought she outdone herself with that book, I was wrong this one is even better, ok, maybe just as great but I love, love, loved John Remington’s resurrection. Miles is evil, he is still pissed John double crossed him but he is not done with John yet, he masterminded his death specifically for those plans. Miles tries to break him but he does not give in, not until they threaten to harm Brooklyn and his family. Holy moly what that man endures is beyond amazing, his strong will and determination keeps him going and once Miles thinks he is on board he just bides his time and in his head he is plotting his revenge. But Miles is not stupid and nothing comes easy. This book is one action packed rollercoaster ride, you can not help but root for John and feel his pain for all he has been through and what he needs to do. I loved that Jake understood his cryptic message and followed his gut instincts, also loved that Brook was never able to move on from John. This book captivated me from start to end, it brought me to the edge of my seat numerous times, had my head spinning and my heart thumping. I highly recommend this series, it is entertaining and enjoyable with some mind-blowing action and romantic suspense. Kelly Moore thank you for this awesome series, I appreciate the versatility of your writing skills and ability to master more than one genre.
Seth Thompson continues to bring these characters and their story to life. He does a great job portraying the characters and humanizing them, capturing their emotions and projecting them into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

Love, love, love it!
Kelly Moore outdoes herself with the next installment to her DC series. Dangerous Captive encompasses a little of all the features i absolutely love in a book. It has romance, suspense, danger, uncertainty, unpredictability and an few twists that just kept me on edge the entire listen. Two years have gone by. Brook and Jake have made a new life without John, only to find out somehow he has survived. While overjoyed, the danger of Myles is still lurking. And he will have no problem killing those that John loves to seek his revenge. Will John ever be free? Moore continues to bring new and innovative ideas to her stories. This one has some interesting technological inventions that really put a twist into life as we know it. The characters are fantastic. Brook is still the feisty redhead, loves fiercely and will do anything to keep her family safe. John is the protective, brave man, the one we all love, but I also found Jake to be one to watch as well. And Myles continues his hate trail, and it's so easy to just want him to be caught. He is a slippery fellow though and he proves to be a masterful adversary. Love this story, love the action, the suspense and the passion. A fantastic listen!
Seth Thompson continues his narration, and I really enjoyed his performance in this book. He definitely hit his stride, marking each character and made them his own. The inflections increased the tension and he gave the story a feeling of romantic suspense.

Dangerous captive
OMG this book was everything I thought it would be and more. I cried I laughed and sometimes out loud while I was at work listening and got strange looks but so worth it. I am so happy I found Kelly Moore and so so glad her books take me to a better place where you can tear up one minute and laugh your butt off the next . The narrator was really good and kept you on the roller coaster as Kelly intended the book to do .

Suspense until the very last chapter
John has more lives than a cat, thankfully. He finally gets the girl but has to fight for his life to keep her. (The buffet scene really needs to be in a movie). Just when they get things under control, Miles comes back but John knows how to deal with him.

The story continues
I was so sad at the ending of book one to being thrilled with the beginning of book two.
We pick up with John a few years after his supposed death. He is being held captive and Brooklyn and Jake have no idea he’s alive. The thrills continue with this story. Loved the drama and surprises.
Seth Thompson narrates book two also. Good job.
I enjoyed both books and recommend them.
