About this listen

"A story beautifully told, with richly drawn characters that will...make you want to laugh and cry" from the number one New York Times best-selling author of The Book of Lost Friends and Before We Were Yours.

All her life, Epiphany Salerno has been tossed like a dandelion seed on the wind. Now, at 16, she must move to the low-rent side of Blue Sky Hill and work where she's not wanted: in an upscale home on The Hill.

J. Norman Alvord's daughter has hired a teenager to stay with him in the afternoons. Widowed and suffering from heart trouble, Norman wants to be left alone. But in Epie's presence, Norman discovers a mystery. Deep in his mind lie memories of another house, another life, and a woman who saved him.

As summer comes to Blue Sky Hill, two residents from different worlds will journey through a turbulent past, and find that with an unexpected road trip through sleepy Southern towns comes life-changing friendship...and clues to a family secret hidden for a lifetime.

Incredibly Emotional

For anyone with elderly parents. The first chapter helped me understand what my parents went through before they died. And the rest of the book gave me hope at a time when I question my own purpose in life.

Wonderful story

I know this is a long book. But oh so worth the time. I loved the characters and this story. I found myself thinking of these characters when I wasn’t listening to the book. Lisa Wingate always has such wonderful books. Thank you for this one. I was truly engaged.

Last in this series & I’m sad it’s ending

This entire series was good - I listened to them via Audible… the last story about an elderly man and a teenage girl who form a deep bond is just such a sweet story. I loved it.

Two Broken Halves Make a Whole

The language I don’t have to say how much I loved this gorgeously written story!

This is a character-driven story done by someone who is a rarity in the writing world - Lisa Wingate is a master writer like NO other! “J. Norm," the curmudgeonly old guy is transformed by an Epiphany he has who comes to his home to work at the sunset of his life. Epiphany Jones undergoes change as well! They are a perfect blessing to each other!
