About this listen

When a teenager is found stabbed to death, detectives Rebecca Angell and Jake Sullivan are called to the scene, and clues soon lead them to a crime novel that the killer has used as gruesome inspiration.

The author, Amy Gallaty, has a new book out, at first prompting Angell and Sullivan to question how far she is prepared to go in the name of promotion. But when Amy attracts the attentions of a stalker and then a second murder mirrors another of her plots, they realize they are up against a cruel and clever psychopath, one who may have a more personal agenda.

Working with the FBI, Angell and Sullivan find themselves in a race against the clock to unlock the secrets in Amy’s past before the killer can strike again.

Problems, Problems, Problems…..

I thought the story was okay but the way it was read was awful. I didn’t like the workplace sexual harassment, I found it absolutely unnecessary and irritating.

I needed to speed up the audio book to 1.5 because it was so slow! I eventually used the book as I would a white noise app to help me fall asleep.

The narrators read every syllable of every word a character said instead of speaking as people would normally. The female narrator was monotone and seemed like she only put inflection into her voice when she read for a character who had an accent. The male reader was a hint better but not much.

I had problems with some of the verbiage used; like “caughten”, who uses that?
Disappointed overall (and I can’t return it).

Dang!!!!

Another good one by this author. I hope there is another book in this…….I don’t think it is a series but a related book….. anyway, I was again taken by complete surprise by the twist in the end! Loved this one.

Fantastic story but editing issues

So engaging! So surprising! But I’m need of an editors touch. Like in M for Murder, the story takes place in the west coast of the US, but the language is all UK English. Lots of mistakes that should have been caught be the editor. Examples: “in hospital instead of “in the hospital”; “details” instead of “contact information”. I am an American who lived in the UK and there were so many glaring vocabulary errors in both books. It was distracting.
