About this listen

All your favorite characters are back in the fourth and final book of the True Heart series.

Amy and Parker are overjoyed when they find out they're pregnant. There's only one thing that puts a damper on this good news: they aren't married yet. They've been planning the wedding for over a year and now they need a little help from their friends to make it a reality.

In the middle of all the wedding and baby shower drama is Ruth and Tamika. Ruth is a single mother who has known more than her fair share of heartache. Her ex left as soon as the parenting got tough. Now Ruth is torn between her blossoming love for Tamika and her daughter's ravaged heart. She's already had one mother leave her - can Ruth take a chance that another woman won't do the same thing?

For every new beginning there is an ending and for every joy there is a sorrow. Follow Amy, Parker, and their friends as they say goodbye to somebody very near and dear to them.

Cross Your Heart is an emotionally charged novel exploring love, loss, and the importance of friendship.

Speed up the narration for a better result

I want to add this review to offset some of the comments about the narration. I didn't like the sample, but the book was part of the romance package so I decided to try it anyway. I sped it up to 1.20 and it was totally different and much better! At that speed the story came to life instead of the dragging narration in the sample. The narrator is able to do many different voices which is great for a book with so many diverse characters. I read/listened to all 4 books in 2 days because they were so good. Take a risk. You won't regret it.

Never heard my name before!

This was an enjoyable series. And, I admit to being slightly amazed at hearing my name - Tamika (though mine is spelled differently). That's never happened before. I appreciated the inclusion of this character, as I'm not used to being able to hear/read about Black women in lesbian novels without being annoyed by stereotyping or minimization of their role in the story as if they were just added for some kind of comic relief. Tamika wasn't a major character, but her place was far better than I've become used to. This might be a minor issue for most people, but it meant a great deal to me. I thank the authors for that consideration.

I also agree with a previous reviewer about the narration speed; increase it to 1.25X and it's way more enjoyable.

Excellent Series

This final book in this series take a turn that I did not expect. This series places gay women in dominantly male jobs. Nice to see this in a very accepting manner with make counterparts.

A New Life

Amy and Parker were still planning their wedding when they find out they’re pregnant. Now they have seven months to get the rings on their hands. Simultaneously Ruth, a firefighter and single mother, is drawn toward Tamika , the barista at the coffee shop. A marvelous performance and series. Recommend series.

True Heart Series

This was an awesome series.
So much love. A community that embraces each other and supports one another through good times and bad times.
I admire the authors for their cast of characters. They even help their audience to realize
the functionality of those with
Asperger's Syndrome. The narrator did a really good job performing each characters personality.
Thank you for such an enjoyable series.

Heartfelt Romance

This book was better than the last one. These characters were so colorful and spontaneous, I felt like this one was about my close friends. I laughed, cried , and predicated the birthday of the baby. I am looking forward to the next adventure.

Excellent Audio!

I loved Cross Your Heart. This is book 4 in the series. Love the continuing story of Amy and Parker. Since I had already read the book, I was already crying when we got to Clara and Mable. Too sad and beautiful at the same time. Layce Gardner does an excellent job with the narration.

Love this series

The characters in Cross Your Heart by Saxon Bennett and Layce Gardner are real and funny. They make you want to be their neighbor and get right into the muck of things with them. Gardner’s voice lends to that down-home quality of life, and brings a real country essence to the narration. Plus.. she knows these characters. Hope the series continues after this book.
