His defiant stand reached its peak at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, where he delivered a crushing blow to US forces, leading to George Armstrong Custer’s infamous last stand. Yet, even this legendary victory wasn’t enough to stop the relentless march of US expansion. The Lakota, like so many other Native American nations, found themselves pushed onto reservations, their freedom and way of life rapidly disappearing. It was here that Crazy Horse would meet a sad end. Stabbed in the back (both literally and metaphorically), Crazy Horse died as he had lived: a warrior unwilling to bend. This is his life—this is his story.
