I enjoyed the stories told in this volume. Glad to have a resolution to the Matriarch story arc. Worth listening to even though Peter can be a bit on the dry side. Gabriel does a great job as usual.

Good Next Volume to the Story

Would you consider the audio edition of Coyote Rising to be better than the print version?

cannot say, I only listened

What was one of the most memorable moments of Coyote Rising?

When I recognized that the driving force behind the book was the breakdown of democratic society and the continuing destruction of the ecosystem on Earth leading to a group of rebelious intellectual individualists willing to risk everything for a new start.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The future that could be.

Any additional comments?

I was impressed with the mix of serious science, technology and sociological issues in creating a great story that was truly entertaining to read.

So good I listened to all 5 books in the series.

The story is great sci-fi although it can be repetitive. The narrator's voice is a bit grating but bearable after getting used to it.

Loved the story, not the narrator

This was a really good book. It was better than the first in the series. However, it is necesary to read the first book before embarking on this book. The characters Mr. Steele has created for Coyote were really well developed, and I cried when certain characters died. So sad. I was happy when others died. Also the war was well played. Listen to the book; I don't want to ruin it, but I will highly recommend it. This is probably the best space frontier/military sci-fi out on Audible with the exception of the Prince Roger series by John Ringo. I reccomend that series also.

Also it seems to me the only political ideology that Mr. Steele expouses in the second novel is a constitutional Democracy, and the only may to run one is by using libertarian principles. I.E there is no free lunch.

Great, Great Stuff

Steele has done a great job creating a world and caracters that are engaging. You really develope feelings for them and they are far from perfect.

I really enjoyed this world

Where Coyote was a book about man's initial thrust to colonize another planet, Rising is more of a political history of the problems that arise in a new colony. Not quite as hard sci-fi filled with the unknown as the first, but still an engaging read.

My biggest gripe is that Steele writes in circles. It's as if your're on a boat trying to cross a river but often you get caught in a whirlpool and spin around and around. Eventually you paddle out and progress several feet but then get caught in another whirlpool. Steele constantly rehashes plot points so that "you remember why X=Y" and it's quite overbearing. Feels like filler more often than not. He also has a habit of introducing compelling characters that he seemingly forgets to get back to later in the book.

Our slow-reading-robotic narrator Peter Ganim seems to have picked up the pace a little this time around.... but he's still the most painful point of this audiobook.

Great sequel, though a very different book

Well written and well natterated. 4 Stars. Good trilogy. Nice twist on things. A good sci-fi story.

Great second book

This, the second part, is just as good as the first. Another book I listened to straight through and have now added the 3rd to my Wish List.

Just as Good

What did you love best about Coyote Rising?

Alternate universe approach

What did you like best about this story?

The book although a part of a series can stand alone. I dislike reading a series as it is just a scam to pad weak story lines, draw out the drama and take my money

Solid story

Any additional comments?

The story is very good. I found some of the story very repetitive. Every character had to reintroduce every other character. It appears the story was written as a series of short stories that have been combined into a single book.

Excellent story, but repetitive.
