About this listen

""Bellefleur has a droll, distinct voice, and her one-liners zing off the page, striking both the heart and funny bone... There's a sparkling quality here, one that mirrors the starry title. Bellefleur writes as if she's captured fairy lights in a mason jar, twinkly and lovely within something solid yet fragile."" – Entertainment Weekly

Following Written in the Stars and Hang the Moon, Lambda Literary Award winner and national bestselling author Alexandria Bellefleur pens another steamy queer rom-com about former best friends who might be each other's second chance at love…

Margot Cooper doesn’t do relationships. She tried and it blew up in her face, so she’ll stick with casual hookups, thank you very much. But now her entire crew has found ""the one"" and she’s beginning to feel like a fifth wheel. And then fate (the heartless bitch) intervenes. While touring a wedding venue with her engaged friends, Margot comes face-to-face with Olivia Grant—her childhood friend, her first love, her first… well, everything. It’s been ten years, but the moment they lock eyes, Margot’s cold, dead heart thumps in her chest.

Olivia must be hallucinating. In the decade since she last saw Margot, her life hasn’t gone exactly as planned. At almost thirty, she’s been married... and divorced. However, a wedding planner job in Seattle means a fresh start and a chance to follow her dreams. Never in a million years did she expect her important new client’s Best Woman would be the one that got away.

When a series of unfortunate events leaves Olivia without a place to stay, Margot offers up her spare room because she’s a Very Good Person. Obviously. It has nothing to do with the fact that Olivia is as beautiful as ever and the sparks between them still make Margot tingle. As they spend time in close quarters, Margot starts to question her no-strings stance. Olivia is everything she’s ever wanted, but Margot let her in once and it ended in disaster. Will history repeat itself or should she count her lucky stars that she gets a second chance with her first love?

Nice spice and inclusion of astrology

Definitely played to the characters sun signs and added lots of quirk and spice. However, be aware of the “miscommunication” plot device. It’s used repeatedly.

The Mistakes of Youth 🤔

How many of us look back upon our lives and recall a relationship that would have been perfect now, but, because of circumstances at that time, or simply the challenges put upon that relationship because of youth, geography, social status, school or something else, caused us to drift apart.
The truly wonderful tale, is that one which presents us with the rarest and most wonderful story that presents us with “the second chance”🎉
The opportunity to do it all over again. To make things right😘.
This is one of those novels.
It presents us with two women (no longer adolescents), whose “physical chemistry “ is still off the charts, but who now have to deal with the ten years that separated them and the reasons for their split in the first place.
One character’s flaw is her endless desire to make things right for those she cares about (and even those she does not) and the other who feels that she will somehow do something or fall short in some way that will wreck her dreams of love forever. 😱
There is a lot of humor to match the angst, and a lot of “heat” to make things even more interesting.
Enjoy 😉

Quirky, relatable, sweet

At times cheesy and frustrating… like just communicate already! But, I can’t say I haven’t been in similar situations. The characters are realistic, humorous, and overall adorable. Love a feel good. I don’t usually read rom-coms but I found myself flying through this one

LOVED IT.

Lauren Sweet was perfect for this entire series. She voiced all the characters beautifully, without sounding silly doing male character voices. Alexandria Bellefleur did a great job of telling Margot's story and I loved every second of it. I honestly got super attached to all of these characters and I hope there are more stories sometime in the future!

Very enjoyable

Read the first book in the series and found it to be just okay. I found this third and final installment to be much better. The main couple had far more chemistry and less choppy character development. There’s a good amount of humor and some very well written sexy times if that’s your jam. The ever frustrating miscommunication trope is a little over-relied upon at first, so if that’s particularly annoying to you just hang on (it gets better). Overall, a really worthwhile use of a credit. The narrator was very good as well.

All the Stars and more

Eagerly awaiting her next book. So good. Sheer perfection. Wish it didn't have to end.
