About this listen

Biblical counselors have worked for decades to demonstrate that God’s resources in scripture are sufficient to help people with their counseling-related problems. In Counseling the Hard Cases, editors Stuart Scott and Heath Lambert use the true stories of real patients to show how the truths of God’s word can be released to bring help, hope, and healing into the lives of those who struggle with some of the most difficult psychiatric diagnoses. From pastors and academics to physicians and psychiatrists, a world-class team of contributing counselors share accounts of scripture having helped overcome bipolar, dissociative identity, and obsessive compulsive disorders, postpartum depression, panic attacks, addiction, issues from childhood sexual abuse, homosexuality, and more. The book also shows how the graces of Christ, as revealed in the Bible, brought powerful spiritual change to the lives of such people who seemed previously burdened beyond hope by mental and emotional roadblocks. Contributors include John Babler, PhD, Kevin Carson, DMin, Laura Hendrickson, MD, Garrett Higbee, PsyD, Robert Jones, DMin, Martha Peace, RN, Steve Viars, DMin, and Dan Wickert, MD.

Fantastic examples of hard cases being met with the power of the gospel

Loved this book. So many amazing stories of people who we not only helped, but healed and redeemed from many different sins, addictions, and abuses. The sufficiency of scripture is on display throughout this book, and the real life stories are incredibly encouraging and heartening. Knowing that there really isn’t any matter of the heart that God isn’t able to meet with the power and grace of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Incredible book

I absolutely love the way these cases are handled and how they are open minded caring, compassionate, but yet still use the biblical foundations and apply it to hard cases

Great resource

Great resource for biblical counseling. I do think the audio is more beneficial to listen to while also reading the text.

Excellent Counsel!

I appreciated the humility of the counselors and counseled sharing their hearts. As a biblical counselor and fellow counseled person my heart rejoices that the instructions of truth are absolutely found in the Scriptures. I so very much appreciate hearing the heart of Christ transforming these lives on Audible. I’m super blessed. Here is a spiritual thanks and hug!

Excellent Review and Demonstration of Scriptural Sufficiency

Convicting and revealing. This clearly demonstrates the superfluous nature and intrusion of secular psychological thinking into the realm of the ministry from one believer to another.
Will strive to apply the lessons and implement a counseling ministry at our church.
