About this listen

Princess Kiwistafel has been kidnapped. Again. (But this time, it’s personal!)

The Player of Legend - Tasha Singleton - sets out with her ragtag group of friends to rescue the princess. But Kiwistafel’s kidnapping is only the beginning of Tasha’s headaches. The menu clocks tick ever backward toward the world’s end, as Entropy, the serpent god of destruction, looms in the sky. Will Tasha save the princess from Queen Murderjoy? Can she collect the remaining elemental orbs on time? Will Pan accomplish her quest to make Ari - her summoned figment of a father - a permanent being? Can Kiwi forgive Tasha for accidentally betraying her to Murderjoy? Most importantly, who will win the Wombat Island kart racing championship?

Find the answers to these questions and more in Couch Potato Crisis - the penultimate volume of Couch Potato Chronicles.

This is a LitRPG/RPG Gamelit audiobook with stat progression, video game mechanics, and narrative spreadsheets. It features heavy satire and the kind of silly, over-the-top situations you might expect in a 16-bit video game. No velociraptors have been harmed in the production of this audiobook.

Downgraded cover art, but still entertaining

Downgraded cover art does not mean the story itself was downgraded. While it might have had less funny moment, and occasionally had characters forget about their abilities for a bit for plot convinience, its still an entertaining story overall. With many side characters giving equal and important part of the story, while still having Tosha in the middle of it. 4/5.

Hooked

I’m a big fan of this series it’s kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens. I bit of confusion in this book for me but I would still say it’s one of the best books in its genre.

A good follow up!

Liking this series and as times it irritates the decisions of some characters, it is undeniably realistic and thus believable. Well done.

Couching Tiger, Cushioned Dragon

As a fan of LitRPG and Gamelit genres, I approached this audiobook with high expectations, and it exceeded them in every way imaginable.

The story picks up with our beloved protagonist, Tasha Singleton, once again finding herself in a world where the laws of physics mimic those of a video game. If you've followed Tasha's adventures in the first book, you'll be thrilled to know that "Couch Potato Crisis" takes her character development and her relationships to greater depths. This audiobook dives headfirst into the world of Etheria, where Tasha and her motley crew of friends embark on an epic quest to rescue Princess Kiwistafel, who has been kidnapped by the diabolical Queen Murderjoy. But the plot doesn't stop there; it's merely the tip of the iceberg.

Erik Rounds has masterfully crafted a narrative that balances character development, humor, and a compelling plot. The story seamlessly delves into the complexities of the game mechanics and world features, providing clarity where needed without overwhelming the listener. Unlike some other entries in the genre, "Couch Potato Crisis" maintains a perfect equilibrium between focusing on Tasha and exploring a wider range of characters and their perspectives. While I initially missed the intense focus on Tasha, this broader narrative perspective added layers to the story, taking it to new heights and unforeseen depths.

The audiobook's pacing is nothing short of remarkable, keeping listeners on the edge of their seats throughout. Erik Rounds' witty and humorous writing shines through in every chapter, providing ample entertainment and laughter along the way. What sets this series apart is the clever integration of RPG game mechanics into the narrative. As you accompany Tasha and her friends on their quest, you'll encounter stat progression, video game elements, and even narrative spreadsheets that immerse you in a world that feels like a 16-bit video game brought to life.

However, what truly elevates "Couch Potato Crisis" to greatness is the outstanding narration by Sarah Sampino. Her vocal talent is a force to be reckoned with, breathing life into each character with distinctive voices and nuances. Sampino's ability to switch seamlessly between characters is awe-inspiring, creating a truly immersive listening experience. One standout moment that deserves recognition is her epic raspberry blowing, which adds an extra layer of hilarity to the audiobook.

The chemistry between Sarah Sampino's narration and Erik Rounds' storytelling is a match made in audiobook heaven. Sampino's ability to capture the essence of the characters enhances Rounds' already engaging narrative, creating a synergy that is nothing short of magical. It's evident that Sampino's dedication to her craft shines through in every word she utters, making her one of the finest narrators in the industry.

One cannot help but get lost in the enchanting world of Etheria, where fantastical creatures and whimsical adventures await at every turn. As Tasha and her friends navigate the treacherous path to rescue Princess Kiwistafel, the stakes are raised, and the tension mounts. Will they save the princess from Queen Murderjoy? Can they collect the remaining elemental orbs in time to avert disaster? Will Pan succeed in her quest to make Ari a permanent being? Can Kiwi find it in her heart to forgive Tasha for her accidental betrayal? And, most importantly, who will emerge victorious in the Wombat Island kart racing championship?

To avoid spoilers, I won't delve into the intricate details of the plot. However, I can assure you that "Couch Potato Crisis" is a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions, filled with unexpected twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. It's a testament to Erik Rounds' storytelling prowess that he manages to keep the story fresh and engaging, even as he explores new dimensions of his fantastical world.

"Couch Potato Crisis" is an audiobook that not only lives up to its predecessor but surpasses it in many aspects. It's a masterclass in Gamelit storytelling, offering a perfect blend of character development, humor, and a gripping plot. Sarah Sampino's narration is a tour de force, elevating an already outstanding audiobook to new heights. If you're a fan of the LitRPG or Gamelit genres, or if you simply crave an enthralling adventure with a touch of whimsy and a dash of RPG magic, then "Couch Potato Crisis" is a must-listen.

In a world where audiobooks transport you to other realms, this one not only transports you but immerses you fully, making you an integral part of the epic journey. So, grab your favorite listening device, sit back, and prepare to be enchanted by the mesmerizing world of Couch Potato Chronicles. Princess Kiwistafel awaits, and Tasha Singleton is ready to take you on a ride like no other.
