About this listen

Confessions of a Prairie Bitch is Alison Arngrim's comic memoir of growing up as one of television's most memorable characters - the devious Nellie Oleson on the hit television show Little House on the Prairie.

With behind-the-scenes stories from the set, as well as tales from her bohemian upbringing in West Hollywood and her headline-making advocacy work on behalf of HIV awareness and abused children, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch is a must for fans of everything Little House: the classic television series and its many stars like Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert; Gilbert's best-selling memoir Prairie Tale; and, of course, the beloved series of books by Laura Ingalls Wilder that started it all.

Honest without being Petty; and HILARIOUS

Probably on of the most brilliant autobiographies I've ever had the privilege to listen to. I kept trying to stop listening to no avail I listened straight through. Honest without being petty or bitter. I got all the feelings while listening. I especially appreciated hearing about her relationships with her Little House family. Especially her somewhat unique relationship with Michael Landon. Highly recommend to all who loved "Little House on the Prairie", or even of you didn't still a powerful read.

Excellent Narration and Story

I love Alison's narration of her life story. She is expressive and honest telling her deepest memories. Her words will help so many suffering from abuse. She is a true survivor and hero. Not many people could go on after the abuse she suffered. Not only did she move on she became a start and advocate. I grew up hating Nellie Olson, but now I love Alison she is so awesome. I would love to read more stories from her or even narrations.

The Brazenness of Nellie Olsen and Coolness of Alison Arngrim

I’d recommend this book to anyone who grew up watching LHOTP and/or anyone who had abuse in his/her childhood. It’s sad, funny, heartbreaking, scandalous, and extremely thoughtful. I’ve heard it said to play a “dumb” character takes brains. By the same token, I think it must take a tender heart to play a b*tch. Alison is an activist, actress, comedienne and author. She’s also an amazing narrator, if you decide to buy the audiobook like I did.

I used to love Little House. To know she survived makes me so so proud.

I LOVE NELLIE!!!

An effective actor is one who is polarizing. I dislike the nellie character, but I Love Alison the actress. Would LHOTP be a successful franchise without the likes of Nellie, Willie, and the dreaded Mrs o? Alison did a wonderful memoir. No clue as to the drama and trauma of her home life while she acted. Alison is a beacon of hope and I wish well and continued success.

Delightful and hilarious

If you ever were a Little House in the Prairie fan, this is a must read. A talented writer, Allison “Nellie Oleson” Arngrim gives a spectacular audio performance of just how life was on the set of Little House and beyond, in this autobiography. There were a few unexpected if not shocking turns along the way, but at the end of this read I felt as if I knew her as a good friend, or at least I wish she could be!

Yes! Wonderful!

Thankful I listened to so many reviews who listened to Melissa Sue Anderson’s book saying hers is awful, but Alison Arngrim’s is amazing so listen to it instead. They were right. Alison doesn’t hold anything back. She opens up, gives you amazing insight into her life, experiences from the show, friendships that continued and how she evolved over the years. Really amazing to hear all the stories and understand so much.
