About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Catherine Anderson touches listeners’ hearts with her captivating romances. Set in Oregon around the turn of the 20th century, Coming Up Roses finds Kate Blakely trying to move on after the death of her abusive husband. With a farm to run and a four-year-old daughter to look after, Kate can barely keep above water, much less consider marrying again. Yet she can’t help but notice her neighbor Zachariah’s kind heart and handsome features.

Would you consider the audio edition of Coming Up Roses to be better than the print version?

I have listened to all of Catherine Anderson's books but this was the most enjoyable one I have heard. I could not stop listening. I did not want to end. I want a sequel to this book, it has to be more. Little Mandy was so precious. Please send us more.

What did you love best about Coming Up Roses?

An abused widow woman, who would do anything to protect her daughter. A man who rides into her life, and teaches her how to trust and love again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The little girl, the man Zeak, and the woman, Katie. I loved the ranch hand, the dog. I loved it all.

Have you listened to any of Julia Gibson???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think so.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The snake pit.

Any additional comments?

I recommend this book, it is one that you will want to listen to again and again..I burst out laughing so many times, the little girl say's the funniest things. Zeak is so strong and patient and love's both of them. If you want a book that is hard to put down, this is it.

This book starts off by grabbing your attention. This book made laugh out loud. The little girl Mandy is a very smart 4 year old full of questions. I love how the author let's her character shine.

So I was looking around the other night trying to find a good book to download praying the narrator wasn't going to ruin it and I came across all the good reviews for this book. I was soooo NOT disappointed. It's a historical romance about a widowed woman with a little girl and a widowed man whose properties are next door to each other and the romance/story begins.
It's a great story that kept my interest and I loved the characters. I couldn't put it down!!!! Julia Gibson, the narrator, does a great job with all the characters which is such a plus. (Nothing worse than the female sounding like an airhead or a long lost relative of Mae West and the male sounding like a total dweeb) That is NOT the case here. I loved Kate and Zack and the little girl. This book ranked right up there with "Playing the Part" by Darcy Daniel which is another AWESOME audiobook. Sometimes these subtle romances become hotter than overt ones!!!

WOW!!!!!! Super sweet and way hot!

Would you consider the audio edition of Coming Up Roses to be better than the print version?

No. The reader did not do justice to the written story.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the relationship that developed between the little girl and the neighbor.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Julia Gibson?

It would have to be another book that I had read and enjoyed as much as I did "Coming Up Roses".

Any additional comments?

I really looked for a better reading with the different voices so that the little girls words were better.

Reader Not Up To The Story

This booked evoked some deep emotions. at times it was hard to get through because of the brutality. I hang in there because it was Catherine Anderson at her best. I will never forget the rescuing of Miranda from a well filled with snakes. There are some other scenes that evokes strong emotions. The narration was great and I highly recommend.

Emotionally Gripping

I couldn’t put it down. The story grabbed me from the beginning. Some of the scenes ran a little long but all being said I’ve added Catherine Anderson to my favorite author list.

Great story
