About this listen

Trouble in Margaritaville...

Jake Sullivan had everything - his dream job as the chief prosecuting attorney in the Miami Office of the Justice Department, a loving family, and good friends. Many would describe him as a bulldog of a man with a strong moral streak. No one would have predicted what was about to come.

When Jake Sullivan takes on a high-profile case, he naturally anticipates both a moral and a professional victory. But, when his drinking and obsession with the horrific nature of the crimes involved cloud his judgement, the case is thrown out of court and a cold-blooded killer goes free.

Shattered and mired in self-pity, Jake withdraws from his family and takes off to Key West where he builds a small practice fighting marine insurance companies. One night, still haunted by his failures, Jake stumbles upon a covert meeting between Attorney General Benjamin Matthews, the man who fired him, and the serial killer he let go free.

What follows is Jake’s fight for redemption and his life as he unravels a Machiavellian plot that leads from Key West to the White House.

This is the first book in the Jake Sullivan Series.

Worst Performance Ever

This is the first time I've ever heard a book read by this reader, and it will definitely be the last. He was HORRIBLE. My daughter could have read this book more coherently at the age of 8, and without sounding like he had 3 drinks too many. The story was trite and predictable. All around a complete waste of a credit. Will definitely be returning.

Terrible Narrator

This narrator was awful. I could hardly make it through the book. A gangster wannabe style with choppy cadence that grated all the way, made it difficult to concentrate on the story. The plot was ok, but a bit contrived.

Horrible Narration

This was a fun book, read by Siri and Alexa.
Seriously the most bizarre narration I've ever heard. Most of the time it sounds like a robot: awkward sentence structure, random pauses, weird slow-talking. But sometimes, when there's a character talking, it is fine.
I tried this book at different speeds, and it wasn't any better. I have no idea what computer algorithm put this mess together, but it did a great injustice to both the author and the narrator.

Slow start big finish I Liked it.

A bit slow starting but some fun plot twists with a strong finish
I also enjoyed the music choices especially. The jazz it was well selected and fit the story.
I’ll be reading the next book in this series.

Love Chip’s Vibe

Love these key west authors. But, is the narration computer generated? I’ve never heard such a mess!!

Interesting story with a horrible narrator

This is my first experience with this author. The story was not bad. The narrator sounded like he was drunk most of the time. The musical interludes came in strange places too. I'll check out the next book provided it's not the same narrator.

The Narration was very poor

When I first heard the narration of this book, I thought I had the speed setting on slow. After checking it, I realized it was on the correct setting. The narrator talked very slowly and had pauses in places where there should have been none. I felt the story line might have been good, but I could only get through the first 1/3 of the book because the narration was so bad. Im going to request a replacement credit for this book.

Hard to listen to

The voice is like a computer robotic. Hard to listen to. No feeling or emotions. Could not even get past first chapter.
