About this listen

Hailed by E. Lynn Harris as a "bold and imaginative" tale that is "sure to keep readers turning the pages," Sandra Kitt's interracial love story presents a man and a woman whose fates are changed forever by a random act of violence.

Lee Grafton is a divorced cop and the father of a teenage girl. Carol Taggart is a newly single professor. Their lives collide one night when Carol is caught in the crossfire of an undercover drug sting gone south. Shot and seriously wounded, she finds an unexpected friend in Lee... unaware that the man she's falling for could be the shooter. Twenty years on the street do nothing to prepare Lee for the night that changes his life. Determined to make amends, the special-operations lieutenant finds himself irresistibly drawn to Carol. But Lee soon faces a new threat. With his career and heart on the line, he races to prevent Carol from becoming a victim once again.

Passionate and bold, Close Encounters shatters myths about race, gender, and love.

very well written

love the story but part of the story was sort of confusing but overall the idea of the story was good. The leading lady was some sort of immature at times.

loved it

I owned the paperback for years and read it multiple times, so the book has always been a favorite of mine and I was excited it was available on here for me to listen to, I wasn't a fan of the narrator it's always weird the actors the pick to do these narrations, I liked that she added the accents to the Latino characters but for me it still fell flat unfortunately. But because I love the story so much I was able to look past it.

the lead female is an IDIOT, her dumb Ness does not show until chapter 13. other than that I enjoyed the book.

great

I really liked this book and would recommend this book. I wish this book was a movie or TV show. It had a great storyline and sexual storylines.

Narrator

Although the story line was good, the narrator was not good for this character. Understanding that Varol was adopted she still could have added some diversity to the character.

Poor narration and dialog

Sandra Kidd always have well-rounded stories. unfortunately, the narrator doesn't always do it justice. this narrator May the characters sound like cartoons. part of the problem could be the dialogue in the story. at times, the conversation do not sound like conversations anyone would actually have. other than that, it's a nice story to listen to you

Predictable

Entertaining but predictable, not my favorite by Sandra Kitt. The narrator was a little annoying
