About this listen

History is dramatic - and the renowned, award-winning authors Christopher Collier and James Lincoln Collier demonstrate this in this compelling series aimed at young listeners. Covering American history from the founding of Jamestown through the present day, these volumes explore far beyond the dates and events of a historical chronicle to present a moving illumination of the ideas, opinions, attitudes and tribulations that led to the birth of this great nation.

Excellent capsule history of an important period of time. Not only was the content outstanding, the narration was great. I’m looking forward to other books by the Colliers.

I enjoyed the Historical review by topic(s). It reads (listens) like a novel and makes (re)discovering history very enjoyable

Great Topical Overview

Written well, and performed clearly. It's definitely a gloss on the topic, but even with that, it's a good book for any US History student.

Clear fundamental history

The assumption of this book is that the Europeans, being more superior, were always destined to commit genocide on the ungrateful people who couldn’t accept the gift of assimilation and domination.

Colonizer trash

Appreciated the broad scope on early American history- enough to tantalize one’s desire to delve deeper into our early beginnings. However, I believe it was more jaded toward a European perspective. One that favored the survival of the fittest and diminished the strength, integrity, and intelligence of the native people who already inhabited this country before European invasion.
