Epic conclusion

Chrysalis is the epic conclusion to Darby and Michael’s remarkable love story. The twist and turns added much suspense and entertainment to the story. We got to know Michael a lot better since the story was told in his POV.

Sebastian York was one of my favourite male narrator and he didn’t disappoint in bringing Michael to life.

Wonderful, Exciting Ending

Chrysalis is a suspenseful billionaire second chance romance told in first-person POV from the hero’s perspective. It is the second book in the Gilded Love series and the final of a duet following this couple.

I absolutely love when a book (or in this case duet) is told in dual perspectives with a mid-story shift rather than alternating throughout; it is a style I encounter rarely but am always excited by. After experiencing Darby and Michael’s no-strings arrangement through to its end from her perspective, it was enticing to get inside Michael’s head for their separation and reconnection. The plot picked up a lot in this book, and I found myself captivated from the very start. Seeing all the different pieces of Michael and Darby’s lives come together was surprisingly exhilarating. While this installment was still steamy, it was understandably less so than the first book since they ended their arrangement at the end of Snapdragon and begin this book trying to nurture a long-distance friendship and sort out their true feelings.

This was my second audiobook narrated by Sebastian York, and I absolutely loved it! I connected with Michael immediately, and I think he did an excellent job portraying Michael’s mental health struggles as well as his turmoil surrounding his feelings for Darby. While I enjoyed listening to him, I will admit I missed Erin Mallon’s sexy male voice she used for Michael in Snapdragon! I was pleased to hear her again in the epilogue.

Chrysalis was the ending to what is one of my new favorite love stories following couples with unconventional starts!

Loved the ending to this Duet! ❤️

This is the second part of Michael and Darby's story. This picks up right where the other book left off, but told from Michael's POV. Michael and Darby are apart in a lot of the story but you know they want to be together. I think everyone needs sexy, take charge Michael in their life ❤️. I also enjoyed the action in the book. Michael and Darby are such a beautiful couple and I loved this Duet.
I always love anything Sebastian York narrates, and this was another winner for him!

Entertaining

Having just finished Snapdragon I looked forwarded to listening to Chrysalis which is Michael’s point of view. Narrated by Sebastian York who was perfectly cast as Michael in my opinion. To me his voice screams alpha determined, billionaire men which is Michael.

The story drew me in as Michael realized he has made the biggest mistake of his life when he chose the job over Darby. Now focused on making up for his decision and convincing Darby to take another chance on him, things become complicated as it appears he is about to go head to head with Darby’s father.
Who will win Darby’s support the man she has fallen for, or her father? Things are about to become very complicated. Will Michael be able to keep Darby safe when her father puts her in danger with the mafia?
You’ll have to one click to find out.

Friends with Benifits turns to true love.

Everyone else knows what Michael and Darby don't or won't admit. But once Michael finds out what Darby's father is up to, things change very quickly.

Stellar narration to the conclusion of this duet

Chrysalis is the second book in Kilby Blades' Gilded Love series and it concludes the duet featuring erstwhile couple Michael Blaine and Darby Christensen. This book needs to be listened to AFTER Snapdragon because there is a continuing story line. Things may have ended the way they did for Michael and Darby in the first book, but that doesn't mean that the feelings that have been brewing between them have died down. Secrets will need to be revealed if these two decide that the one thing they want more than anything else is each other.

Admittedly, my expectations were rather high going into this book. I appreciated that this time around, the story was told from Michael's perspective, and it was notably brought to life by Sebastian York, a favorite among many a romance listener. Most of my experience listening to York has come by way of romantic comedies, so I was definitely curious to see how he would do with heavier fare. Suffice it to say that I was impressed beyond words. As fantastic a narrator as York was, however, the story did falter in my eyes, coming off as more sedate compared to its predecessor.

3.5 stars for the story, five stars for the narration, so that's an overall rating of about four stars for Chrysalis.

Heart-Pounding and Steamy Romance!

What an emotional and steamy conclusion to Darby and Michael's story! Chrysalis picks right up where Snapdragon left off with both their hearts broken and trying to move on with their lives. Michael realizes that his heart is back in his old neighborhood and with Darby. He is determined to win her back and convince her that they are meant to be together forever. But first he must deal with her corrupt father and his sleazy friends who threaten all that Michael cares for. I really liked both Darby and Michael and how they made each other whole. Darby is a smart and clever heroine and Michael is a sweet, thoughtful, and swoony hero.
Chrysalis was from Michael's pov and I really enjoyed Sebastian York's narration. He really delivered all the emotion, wit, suspense, and steam. I was totally lost in his performance as he brought these characters and story to life, and I couldn't stop listening to this heart-pounding, and steamy romance!

Oh SeBas how I enjoy you so

Part two picks up right where it should. The second books pov is done in the males perspective and is totally worth it.

I am still on the fence with one narrator per book but this story was so good and the twists and turns were awesome. Totally recommended.

Darby and Michael part two

This is the second part of this series told from Michael's point of view. It's always a good book for me when I get to listen to Sebastian York narrating. There's so much more to Michael and why he's the way he is. I don't want to leave any spoilers so it's hard to say why I liked this book other than we get a lot of answers about his feelings for Darby. I liked the way their relationship turns out even though it's not a conventional relationship.

Loved Michael’s Story!!

Chrysalis by Kilby Blades is book 2 in the Gilded Love series. I loved that in this book we get the second part of Darby and Michael's story told from Michael's POV. This audiobook is narrated by Sebastian York. His rich alpha male voice certainly doesn't disappoint, and is just the perfect choice to voice Michael. Sebastian York is fantastic at bringing Architect Michael to life showcasing his loyal, protective, and creative sides. Not to mention, Michael is totally swoon-worthy with his love and dedication to Darby in the way he supports and cares for her as he figures out his true feelings. Plus, Sebastian portrays these dreamy characteristics in all the best ways. After calling "snapdragon" and Michael moves to his new job halfway around the world, these two soon find that they need each other in their lives, and will find a way to make their love a reality, but there are quite a few obstacles along the way.

Overall, I really enjoyed this audiobook and story. If you love a romance with a hot charismatic lover, brave determined female, more steamy times, political drama, a little bit of mystery, loyal friends, and finally, sigh... a soul satisfying HEA, then I recommend this book. Bonus: Erin Mallon narrates the epilogue in Darby's POV and will make your heart so happy. I'm looking forward to reading/ listening to more from Kilby Blades.
