A modern gay-romance twist on Dickens.
Lewis loves his holiday job. As the Ghost of Christmas Present, he guides people to improve their lives. Sure, he’s a little lonely at home in Minnesota, but Fezziwig the cat keeps him company.
When Lewis is spirited to California one Christmas Eve, he meets Sammy, an ex-lawyer who seems to already have his life in order. Lewis and Sammy share Korean fried chicken and a brief fling, but distance and career obligations appear destined to thwart anything permanent.
Maybe this year, Lewis is due for a special gift of his own.

Did the story keep me engaged: yes ✔
Was I invested in the characters: yes ✔
📖 Story comment: I was delightfully entertained with this twist on the "ghost" of Christmas Present. I'd like to see the story expanded into a full length novel.
🎧 Narrator comment: Joel Leslie is one of my favorite narrators and he's done a brilliant performance on Christmas Present. I had no problem distinguishing characters and the rhythm, inflections and intonations all worked to bring the book to life.
If I were being ultra critical (and I'm not), the narration speed felt a little fast - as someone who can be a "fast talker", i'm very conscious of the pace at which I speak ... the speed of this one is starting to creep up (compared to other titles), and on my next listen I will probably drop it's speed down to 0.9x.

Does that matter? Heck no
This sweet Christmas tale made me a bit sniffly and I needed that today. I am so glad that these two met and found each other.
Joel Leslie did a wonderful job as always.
And there is nothing wrong with being a cat person.
Oh my heart

This was a sweet, endearing listen, performed excellently by the always awesome Joel Leslie.
It was a differnt take on Dickens' A Christmas Carol, in the point of view of Christmas Present, with a bit of a twist.
My heart hurt a little for Lewis, I'm glad he and Sam found each other.
Endearing listen.
