About this listen

From New York Times bestseller Tess Gerritsen and acclaimed thriller writer Gary Braver comes a sexy murder mystery about a reckless affair and dangerous secrets.

Taryn Moore is young, beautiful, and brilliant…so why would she kill herself? When Detective Frankie Loomis arrives on the scene to investigate the girl’s fatal plunge from her apartment balcony, she knows in her gut there’s more to the story. Her instincts are confirmed when surprise information is revealed that could have been reason enough for Taryn’s suicide - or a motive for her murder.

To English professor Jack Dorian, Taryn was the ultimate fantasy: intelligent, adoring, and completely off limits. But there was also a dark side to Taryn, a dangerous streak that threatened those she turned her affections to - including Jack. And now that she’s dead, his problems are just beginning.

After Frankie uncovers a trove of sordid secrets, it becomes clear that Jack may know the truth. He is guilty of deception, but is he capable of cold-blooded murder?

Critic reviews

“Narrator Kirsten Potter meets the challenge of voicing this combination police procedural/domestic suspense with a strong #MeToo theme.… Potter gives strong Boston accents to two police detectives who are called to the scene of the apparent suicide of college senior Taryn Moore.… As Potter effectively delivers the internal emotions of the key characters, an engaging listen with disturbing themes unfolds.” AudioFile Magazine

“With deceitful characters and plenty of twists, this novel is highly recommended for fans of Gerritsen or Braver, and readers who love suspense stories.” Library Journal (starred review)

“An emotionally charged page-turner that will definitely keep readers guessing, Choose Me has all of the twists and turns in the right places. Gerritsen and Braver are definitely the co-writing dynamic duo to look out for!” Mystery & Suspense Magazine

I love Tess Gerritsen so when I saw this, I knew I had to read it. The story was great, the ending was unexpected and the narrator was okay. She definitely kept the story going, I’d give her 4.5 stars, her “Boston” accent was a little annoying. I’d listen to her again though. Read/listen to this book, you won’t be disappointed.

Never expected the ending!

The narrator was a bit over dramatic but I forgive her for that because the story was well written.

The ending was a complete surprise

Choose Me was a great listen! I really enjoyed the narration and the story kept me on my toes to a point! The narrator has a smooth, easy to listen to voice that I actually would seek to listen to again and I enjoyed her ability to delineate the characters voices without having to change her modulation that much. I would definitely say that it was worth a credit spent or a few bucks. Choose it!

I thought that this was a good listen!

Tess Gerritsen teams up with Gary Braver resulting in a top-notch thriller. But who killed her? We are presented with a tenured college professor and his hard-working, hard-driven doctor/wife, along with college senior who has many positive attributes with equal numbers of devils. Her boyfriend has moved on without bothering to let her know, the breakup does not go very well, to say the less. Oh, I had always really liked Gerritsen's book series that was made into great TV dramas. This book does not disappoint! Maybe even surpasses my expectations! Narrator Kirsten Potter is up to the task of bringing the printed words to life in great way.
I highly recommend this outstanding audiobook!

Choose Me--5 Stars!!!

This novel was written as a series of character sketches. If you like plot-driven mysteries, this is not for you.

Must be an English major to like this book

Seemed like this was written in a rush, especially the ending, and clearly not up to Tess Gerritsen standards! I find it interesting when an author, co-authors with someone else, how it changes the whole flow of the book. Although a well worn story line, it seemed like the first half might have been written by Gerritsen, with the usual twists and turns and interesting characters, but the second half got so predictable and seemed very rushed. And as someone else said, the fowl language wasn't in character for Gerritsen and didn't seem necessary in the story telling! Disappointment!

Disappointment and not up to Gerritsen standards!

I enjoyed this book. I want to buy more from these authors. the story kept me interested. I love the mass accent and did not mind the performer at all. I read this book between last nite and this afternoon. I think it may appeal more to women than men.

enjoyable book
