The electrifying first novel of an all-new fantasy series from the legendary author behind the Shannara saga, about a human girl struggling to find her place in a magical world she’s never known

“Enticing ... Brooks’s fans will be thrilled to have a new series to savor.” (Publishers Weekly)

At 19, Auris Afton Grieg has led an...unusual life. Since the age of 14, she has been trapped in a Goblin prison. Why? She does not know. She has no memories of her past beyond the vaguest of impressions. All she knows is that she is about to age out of the children’s prison, and rumors say that the adult version is far, far worse. So she and some friends stage a desperate escape into the surrounding wastelands. And it is here that Auris’ journey of discovery begins, for she is rescued by a handsome yet alien stranger.

Harrow claims to be Fae - a member of a magical race that Auris had thought to be no more than legend. Odder still, he seems to think that she is Fae as well, although the two look nothing alike. But strangest of all, when he brings her to his wondrous homeland, she begins to suspect that he is right. Yet how could a woman who looks entirely Human be a magical being herself?

Told with a fresh, energetic voice, this fantasy puzzle box is Terry Brooks as you have never seen him before, as one young woman slowly unlocks truths about herself and her world - and, in doing so, begins to heal both.

Reseñas de la Crítica

Child of Light is enchantingly feral. Precise in his prose, clever in his worldbuilding, Brooks stretches new muscles to explore a young woman’s quest for identity. The pace is rapid as a river, but this one twists hard and runs deep.”—Pierce Brown, #1 New York Times bestselling author

“With a unique setting that is a heady dystopic blend of mysticism and the future, Child of Light is an otherworldly adventure from the fertile mind of one of the most beloved storytellers of our generation.”—Wesley Chu, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The War Arts Saga

“An enticing new mystery. . . . Auris is a tough but enchanting protagonist, and the page-turning mystery of her magical origins form the novel’s heart. Brooks’s fans will be thrilled to have a new series to savor.—Publishers Weekly

I am thrilled to be able to read a new series from Terry Brooks. I have been along through all his words and all his worlds. I am eager to start a new journey with him.

A new world to journey to

It was a little hard for me to get started but once I got into it it really was nice

Good story

Not a Shannara book. More like a YA romance book with some fantasy elements. Got some magic, got some fey, but not a fantasy book.

Not typical Terry Brooks.

This storyline was a bit to much like some teen love storyline. The main character was always reflecting on how much she was in love and was always angst ridden and insecure. Just not my thing. The narration was good however and for the right audience some may enjoy.

Not his best work

What a beautiful and fantastic new world and story! Brooks has done it again. Give this book a chance, it will grip you and hold you all the way through. It will not disappoint.

I loved the story but didn’t like first person narrative. It took me awhile to get used to it. Narrator was amazing though.

Narrator was awesome

This is different than any of the books I’ve read before by Terry Brooks. I read all of the Shannara series and this is completely different, but it still good. It has heirs of other books/movies, but was very entertaining.

A new style for Terry Brooks

Captivating

The storyline was good but was very adolescent. World building was ok but minimal. Characters were well developed and interesting.

Good storyline but

This was a well written and pretty solid story. The bones of the story are nothing new, but the details were nice. The story was something of a soap opera, so if you enjoy tons of tension and a constant curiosity to understand certain facts about the main character's history, then you will like it quite a bit. For me, the constant threat of one boogyman or another spoiling her happiness prevented me from enjoying the story, but others may like that sort of thing. The ending, at least, was satisfactory and fit the story well. Overall, I liked listening to it but didn't necessarily enjoy it, if that makes any sense. I'd say overall it is worth a listen if it sounds interesting to you.

Overall Pretty Solid
