Publisher's summary

Do not make peace with evil. NUKE IT.

Murdered for daring to expose the deeds of the corrupt, Brunhilde Krahe is then snatched from the void of death by the capricious hand of cosmic coincidence.

She finds herself reborn into a bizarre world of magic and conspiracy, eldritch knowledge in her brain and cosmic fire burning inside. Krahe copes with her own death the only way she knows how: by continuing her work in the new world. Ruthless mafiosos, unscrupulous politicians, even lowly gangsters—there is more than enough work to be found for an investigator with no qualms towards hyper-violence.

Cherno Caster is a grim LitRPG Isekai set in a Cyberpunk world with a unique blend of Magic and Sci-Fi. Embrace the chaos and join Krahe in her never-ending quest to not only uncover, but obliterate evil.

nuke mage is mostly new?

Ok look, I'm not going to go on about how great and perfect the book was, tons of people already have. What's up with those bells and chimes at the start of EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER? For chapter of a different prospective fine. But every one? Every time? It's not needed. Half the time it's put over the Narrators voice when she announces the next chapter. Either shorten it, tone it down or get rid of it entirely

Well Written and Narrated story

The pacing can be a bit jarring at times, but this is well written and the narration was perfect for the characters in such a world that the story portrays. Considering the traumatic nature of the inhabitants of this world and perhaps even more traumatic life of the MC, the tone the characters set is actually less bleak due to how the MC sees it from her perspective. I’m looking forward to the next audiobook in this series.

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it enjoyable. It has a slow start, but well worth the time to get the core of the story. Brunhilde Krahe is brutally murdered, only to wake up in another time period. Many things are different in this world, but one thing remains the same, cruelty and corruption. So her mission is the same. Very enjoyable and looking forward to the next one.

A cyberpunk world where magic meets Sci-Fi!

Cherno Caster by Akaso is a dive into a cyberpunk world where magic meets Sci-Fi, and Kelley Hazen's narration nails the dark, gritty vibe. Brunhilde Krahe, reborn with cosmic fire, takes on a brutal new world with relentless determination. “Do not make peace with evil. NUKE IT.” perfectly sums up the raw energy and explosive action packed into this LitRPG gem.

Great intro for me to LitRPG!

The narration is AMAZING! This is not my typical genre and I ordinarily would have skipped but but I'm glad I took a chance! It was a great listen! I loved the descriptions and the world building. The characters are great as well. The only con is that sometimes it was information overload and I had to re-listen several times to truly understand.

Outside of that, I'd absolutely listen to it again and any sequels!

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook from the author via Story Origin. I left an honest review voluntarily!

MC is not cool enough to sustain story alone

First. Every few beats the story stops to have the MC make some new, new OP weapon. Everything feels like an expo dump.
Second, the MC is a confusing self aware mess. She hates evil and fights injustice but also consciously just decides to nuke cities. Her motivations are nonsense and I don’t care about them by halfway through the book.
Third. Neither her inner monologue nor her actions are interesting enough to carry this book without interesting secondary characters.
Fourth. The narration is bad. Emphasis on the wrong syllables, strangely monotone deliveries, and her attempts at character work either sound like racial stereotypes, each other, or drift between the standard narration and characterization.
I regret buying this audio book. 1 start
