About this listen

Race Spencer leads a lonely life out west, until he stumbles upon Rebecca Morgan, the only survivor of a terrifying robbery. Sweeping the helpless beauty into his powerful arms, Race carries her away to safety. Rebecca's life is no longer in danger, but her virtue is decidedly threatened. Race arouses feelings in her she never knew she could experience, especially toward such a hardened man. The pulse-quickening tale of a former gunslinger and the earthly angel who falls into his lap, Cherish is compelling from beginning to end. A sparkling narration by Ruth Ann Phimister enriches this story of two lost souls searching for new beginnings and finding one another.

New York Times best-selling author Catherine Anderson is considered one of the world's greatest romance novelists. A nine-time winner of the Kiss Award, her books are popular and critical successes.

Well Liked

I have not listened to this, but purchased it for someone else. She really liked this story, but not the narrator. It is about a young girl left alone in the wild after a group of bandits attack her wagon train... she is discovered by a cattle rancher, the rest leads from there.

EXCELLENT

I ALWAYS ENJOY CATHERINE ANDERSON. THIS IS A SWEET STORY. THE NARRATOR, HOWEVER, WAS NOT THE BEST - YOU CAN HEAR HER SWALLOWING WHICH I FOUND ANNOYING.

My first time....

I absolutely loved this book. This is the first Catherine Anderson book that I have read and I will sooooooo buy more. At first I was not real thrilled by the narrator and the the herion was such a weak willed woman who by the end of the book completely suprised me and became a true herion who had finally found her way and her calling. Phil Gigante would be an excellent reader for her books though.

The urge tp prptect

Race Spencere was driving his herd when he thought he heard gun fire. Fearing it could be indians, he rode toward the sound and what he found mde him sick to his stomach. A small party of wagons must have split from the larger wagon train and gone the wrong way. Race found them murdered and mutilted. The wagons had been ripped apart, as thogh the attackers were searching for somethlng specific, and the oxen had been killed. Race thought he must have interupted them and they rode out quickly. Loooking around he saw a young girl, in prayer mode, staring at a dead woman.

Nail biting and exciting

I really enjoy this book. I have listened to it several times. When you first meet Rebecca she is living an extremely religious lifestyle. Then Rebecca is found by Race. She is the lone survivor of an attack. She is traumatized. Race slowly falls in love with her while taking care of her. She learns to trust and lean on him. while he teaches her what she was taught about love making was extremely under exaggerated. She falls in love with him too. Race is setting up a trap for the men that killed her family because they still are hunting her because they want the money her parents were carrying to meet the rest of the church. Did he succeed or not.

A good western...

the heroine is a little silly a couple of scenes but that's just her character. I've listened to this one several times over the years.

A Good Romance, But:

Overall I liked the book, with the caveat that I read romances when I want something that requires only half a brain to get the plot. Good points are: Race is all you want a guy to be in a romance and more! He's so sweet you'll want him for yourself. Also he's just as emotional as Rebecca, just in a different way. Bad points: the book has Anderson's MO all over it so there are no surprises. The heroine is exceptionally weak and helpless throughout most of the book and can wear on the nerves -- but she does make up for it in the end. Serious mis-representation of quakerism! Quakers are strongly non-violent, but almost nothing else in Anderson's portrayal was accurate especially about them being phenatical christians. Read this if you want easy mindless entertainment.
