About this listen

From a secret duo of USA Today best-selling authors comes an enemies-to-lovers, sexy, rom-com standalone in the Modern Love Series.

Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this much fun?

Was the one night stand a good idea?

Well, no. Probably not, in retrospect.

In my defense, I had just moved back into my grandparent’s house. I’d lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly stamped ‘LOSER’ on my forehead.

So, when the guy behind the bar started giving me the look....you know, the one that promised I’d be screaming his name, into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he’d earned in the sack - when he gives you that look, you don’t bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse, and ride it!

Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate, by the way.

I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I’d figured out who the bartender was, I was already falling for him.

Note: This book was previously titled The Bartender. Same great story, and with a fresh new look.

Whitney and Cole!

Whitney and Cole’s story has a lot of layers to it because they have old history between them and while he’s sexy and personable being forced to work together on his brother’s and her best friend’s wedding creates all kinds of drama. These characters evolve from enemies to partners to lovers and while I enjoyed their bickering and banter I enjoyed the long time friendship between Whitney, the bride Talia and free spirited Lennon the most. There’s lots of sexy banter, risqué commentary, outrageous situations and deep emotional connections between the characters that I’m drawn to in a good romantic comedy. I listened to the audiobook and loved Joe Arden’s sexy narration and his interpretations of various minor characters in the story. Unfortunately I wasn’t impressed with Stefanie Rose’s lackluster delivery.

narration

I love when the two actors are in the same chapter using their own voices.

Smitten a bit!

Charmed by the Bartender by Piper Rayne Book 1:
I truly dig this story about Whit and Cole!!! Such great chemistry and set up with these 2. They brought out such playful banters that you are itchy to see what will come about in this relationship. Who doesn’t want a charming bartender that could knock your socks off…literally? Ha! Great writing as always & enjoyable to read/listen. So, if you want something flirty, small town, insta-love, and brings a lot of smiles to your face, this is it!

Joe Arden played the role of Cole and he did extremely well on it! He managed to charm me and wonder if all bartenders are therapists in secret. Probably true! Overall, such great performance with a duet with Stephanie Rose.

Stephanie Rose did mostly the narration on this book but I didn’t mind. She was flawless, entertaining, and up hold the magical push and pull relationship with Cole. She did lovely, for sure!!!

DNF really dumb

this book was actually really dumb. the female narration was annoying. I guess if you just want sex with no actual story or plot, this is the book for you. mad about the banker is a much better book with some substance. who TF gets horny when almost in a car accident watching coffee spill everywhere. I mean, come on. I actually fell asleep at one point because it's so repetitive, predictable and annoying. do not recommend.
