Pretty Good!!!

Overall it was pretty good! There were a few times when I had to go back to re-listen to parts bc I got a little lost, but I was able to catch up the 2nd time. There was at least 1 place where the beginning of the chapter seemed to repeat itself (chapter 6, I think). At first I thought my phone was just skipping.
Also, in chapter...4 (?) I wondered how her boss ended up w/ the notebook. Besides that, I didn’t have any other questions, so good job! 😃

Unexpected

The story was very good, I thought I had a good idea of what was going to happen after the first couple minutes, I was completely off. And I enjoyed being wrong, it was well done.

good story

I enjoyed the mystery of the book that was found. The surprise at the end was a complete surprise. I will listen to this again.

Interesting story

I listened to this pretty blind without research and was surprised. The story sucked me in and was an easy short read. I recommend this for a short commute. It makes you want to know more but doesn’t take a lot of your time. I actually listened to this while in the middle of another book. The narrator was good however there was some background noise. Not too much but noticeable when you’re using headphones. I’m sure it wouldn’t be bad in a vehicle or speaker.

Good

Intriguing of how a notebook and what is written changes things for Lily. Good narration and good plot to find out what unfolds for her. Given audio for my voluntary review

Pretty decent

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Overall, Chancing Fate was pretty good, though I think it could have benefited from being a little longer. It felt like a short story I would have read in one of the creative writing courses I took in college.

The author did a great job keeping the story from being predictable. I couldn’t start guessing what was happening until the last chapter.

The narration was good with a few exceptions with editing. There was one line that the narrator repeated which seems to happen a lot in other audiobooks and there was a very obvious cut in the middle of a sentence towards the end of the book. Lastly, if you’re listening with headphones, you’ll definitely hear the narrators background noise (desk bumping, key clicking, maybe an airplane at one point) if you can look past that though, you’ll be fine.

As another review has stated, there’s a preview of the 1st chapter of another book by the author at the end. Not a fan of the practice, but I understand why it’s there.

If you’re looking for a quick ride with an interesting story, this is the book for you!

Bazinga

This was such a good story. I had no idea what I was in for when I accepted listening to this in exchange for leaving an honest review. I didn't read the publisher's summary ahead of time and went in blind. The story was good and sucked me in. I couldn't put it down. It's short so it's an easy listen in a single sitting. The narrator did a great job.

There was a sample of a second story (9 chapters) after this one ended. It's called Orphan: Sounds of Evil and now I'm sucked into that one as well. I just purchased it so I can finish the story. I am going to find more of his works and am a fan of Jonathan Vase now.

Disclaimer: I've been listening at 2x speed for so long anything else sounds like slow motion. My enjoyment of the narrator is based on my listening speed. I only leave 5 stars for books I've listened to multiple times. I'll update my review if I listen again.

I requested this book from the author, narrator, or publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. I would have gladly purchased this title.

Interesting concept, mediocre execution

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked the concept of this book, but it felt more like a short story than anything else. Some parts seemed rushed and the main storyline was all over the place. Towards the end I was confused as to what exactly was going on. The ending seemed to come out of nowhere with a "twist" that didn't seem necessary. I think the story could be a lot better if it was fleshed out a bit and had more depth to it. As other people have mentioned you could hear some background noise with the narrator (papers shuffling, clicking a mouse, etc). I even noticed a repeat of a line (in chapter 6 I think) that was probably supposed to be taken out in editing. I did like the narrators voice though background noise aside. Overall not bad for what it was but it didn't really draw me in.
