There are certain unwritten rules in high school. High on the list, close to the top, is one that says. "Thou shalt not have sex with your best friend's girl." A simple rule, understood by all. Danny Carrs totally ignored it.
Another rule even higher on the list says: "Thou shalt not beat the crap out of the star quarterback two days before the play-off game." I sort of ignored that one. I figured it made us even. Needless to say, the jerks at school didn't see it my way.
Scott James ruined his future when he punched his best friend, Danny. Losing any chance at the college scholarship he desperately wanted. Ostracized by his fellow students. Only outsider Katie Rivers braves social suicide to interact with him.

Certain Rules-Audible review
I own the Kindle & paperback also. I followed along with the narrator. There should be a male & female narrator. This narrator made the grandfather pitched so high & snarky that it sounds more like a middle school girl. The intonation is totally wrong for Scott, the alpha teenage male, in certain areas. Narration for Katie had some good points but still comes off bland. The bottom line: the narrator requires much more experience & training. STORY: YA age 15 and above. Popular jock falls for the shy girl theme. Only pitfall is a character shows up out of nowhere near the end that causes the "breaking-up" moment. It simply does not ring true. Due to this issue, the story element is really a 4.5.

Just...bad.
The narrator was so bad that I am not sure if it was just her, or if the book was really just that bad. The story was hard to follow,had no real depth, and seemed to be written by a 10 year old.
