About this listen

Alex Cross is back - and so is a raging and suicidal Gary Soneji. Out of prison and dying from the AIDS virus he contracted there, he will get revenge on Cross before he dies. In addition, we are introduced to a new pair of rivals whose paths cross that of Alex and Soneji. Thomas Augustine Pierce has been chasing his demon, Mr. Smith, since the savage murder of his fiancée. Mr. Smith is a unique monster, with actions toward his victims so insane - so unimaginable - that he is thought of as "not of the Earth". Pierce, known in the business as St. Augustine because of his track record for catching killers and his invaluable status to the FBI and Interpol, may even be better than Cross. When things heat up and Alex is in a near-death coma following an attack in his own home, Pierce goes to Washington to help with the investigation. But just as he begins to piece together the mystery of how Gary Soneji could have mortally wounded Cross after he was believed to be dead, he is summoned to Paris, with a postcard from Mr. Smith inviting him to a very special killing. The body count is high, the tension the highest, and the two killers on the loose are watching every move their pursuers make. Who is the cat, and who is the mouse? What and where is the final trap? And who survives?

Come on

I love the Alex Cross series, and for the most part love the audio books. However, Alex Cross is a legend. How do we have such horrible narrators for this series? It is mind blowing. Taye Diggs remake of "Along Came a Spider" is the closest thing they have even come to truly portraying a good Alex Cross. Names are pronounced different in each reading. I just don't get it. When you are reading a series like this, the narration is so important to get you to connect with the main character in the series and these are all epic fails.

Bad narration

I loved the book. Kept me on the edge of my seat a few times! The narrator on the other hand ruined part of it for me. His voices were horribly done, made Samson sound like a dumb hick and the kids were awful. You could hear him swallowing while reading and didn't pronounce names the same as they were in the other books.

Bad choice

Why didn’t they hire 1 person or a team to do all of the Alex Cross books. And definitely not this group. The worst Alex Cross yet. And the way made Christine sound was pathetic and disgraceful. She is supposed to be an educated woman, and he made her sound like a simpleton.

Great story and left me hanging!

I love these Alex Cross audio books. But I am listening to them back to back and some of the narrators are better than others. I didn't particularly care for this one. But the story was excellent. Can't wait to start the next one.

Great Story, Horrible Narrator

James Patterson writes a great story, but why can’t these narrators verify how to pronounce a name before they read an entire story mispronouncing it and driving the listener insane?

A little distracting

The plot was really good, but the accents and voices in the narration was a bit over the top and a little distracting.
