Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Richard Dawkins' brilliant reformulation of the theory of natural selection has the rare distinction of having provoked as much excitement and interest outside the scientific community as within it. His theories have helped change the whole nature of the study of social biology, and have forced thousands to rethink their beliefs about life.

In The Butchering Art, the historian Lindsey Fitzharris reveals the shocking world of 19th-century surgery on the eve of profound transformation. She conjures up early operating theaters - no place for the squeamish - and surgeons, working before anesthesia, who were lauded for their speed and brute strength. They were baffled by the persistent infections that kept mortality rates stubbornly high. A young, melancholy Quaker surgeon named Joseph Lister would solve the deadly riddle and change the course of history.

Very thorough without being condescending
I am a vehicle veteran but I learned things that I had somehow missed before. I feel much more confident in my choices and my ability to converse with those who are more into vehicles than I am. This levels the playing field a bit. I definitely would recommend to any new driver and first time (or second time) vehicle buyer.

Actually SO helpful
I purchased this book originally for myself as I wanted to buy a new vehicle at some point this year...but I am now also going to have my daughter listen to this as well as we were hoping to also buy her something this year. This book is a wealth of info for someone who simply doesn't know the automotive car-buying world.
I knew car buying had changed in 2022, or just post pandemic, but this really highlights all of the ins and outs involved in car buying today. Great resource. Also...really enjoyed the narrator too. Sometimes I find the narrators super distracting, however this one was great.

Big investment=big planning
I found this book interesting and very thorough, indeed. For years I worked with automotive companies and dealerships around the country, so I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. All industries have some of each, but consider the large investment you make when purchasing a car, Other than a home, it's one of the biggest decisions you make. In your want to learn and start from the beginning, this is a good book. If you've purchased cars before, the world has changed and so has the process, so this book will help. Anywhere you are on the journey, be prepared. The internet changed the power structure for the consumers and it's our responsibility to know how to play the game.
