About this listen

Every little girl has dreams of being swept up into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess. Sadly, when women grow up, they are often swept up into a life filled merely with duty and demands. Many Christian women are tired, struggling under the weight of the pressure to be a "good servant", a nurturing caregiver, or a capable home manager.

What Wild at Heart did for men, Captivating can do for women. This groundbreaking book shows listeners the glorious design of women before the fall, describes how the feminine heart can be restored, and casts a vision for the power, freedom, and beauty of a woman released to be all she was meant to be. By revealing the core desires every woman shares, to be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a grand adventure, and to unveil beauty, John and Stasi Eldredge invite women to recover their feminine hearts, created in the image of an intimate and passionate God. Further, they encourage men to discover the secret of a woman's soul and to delight in the beauty and strength women were created to offer.

Let a woman be a woman

All to often as women we take on rolls with many identities. This book does a fantastic job showing the importance and beauty that women have. It reveal our special design that our creator (God) has made in us! How intimate that process was and the purpose behind it.
This book was an eye opening reading! Love it!

A beautiful book, beautifully read! I'm so glad I got it! Audible has been a great choice for me and the books that I have been able to quote unquote read through them. Thank you so much!

Emotional highs and lows

Which an emotional rollercoaster and a great book for all women to listen to or read. One major flaw and disappointing part is that this audiobook did not include chapter 6: Healing the wounded. Which was a negative for me being in a book club and realizing that I didn’t get to enjoy the chapter like the rest of the group did.

Not just for women.

Excellent book. This is not just for women! Men need this book to understand more the women in their lives. I will certainly give this another listen. This book shows that being a woman does not mean being a doormat or being weak. God created woman for a wonderful purpose and women are doing Him a dis-service by trying to be something they are not.

Changing my last review…

I have to amend my last review as I finish the last few chapters of this book. Changing the story rating from 5 to 3.5 stars. The second half of the book is just sooooooooo repetitive… And overly fluffy.

Like Honey on my Heart

I was skeptical of yet another book written about and for women- but I felt a little desperate and the title and excerpt I listened to on Audible intrigued me. I heard so many comforting things from God's word, I cried through much of the middle portion of the book. I haven't been able to stop thinking about some of the truths that were shared and it has profoundly affected how I think of myself. I will reread several times over, and take notes next time. I am looking forward to real changes as I implement some of the authors' suggestions.
Truly insightful book.

My girlfriend to be recommended it, so....

What made the experience of listening to Captivating the most enjoyable?

As a man, at first the title didn't thrill me, but she was reading it and I wanted to know more about her so I purchased it. This book open my senses to a different spectrum of colors sort of speak. The narrative style was exquisite (yes big word for a guy like me). It really opened my eyes to see a different angle of women, a more intimate and intrinsic version on women. A version that we as men hardly see and that women almost never show. This book motivated me to see women in a higher, deeper and yet real way, and help me realize how little did I know about the true needs and identity of women from a godly perspective. In essence, this book readjusted my perspective, and definately approach to dealing with women in all aspects not just dating.

Would you be willing to try another book from John Eldredge and Stasi Eldredge ? Why or why not?

Yes, I am buying the book on dating.

What does John and Stasi Eldredge bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I buy books in Audible because of lack of time to read, and also because I get sleepy when reading. The tone of voice and the emphasizes in the narrative makes the story alive for me, like going to the theater.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many moments when I realize "boy, I am so wrong about this or that understanding".

Any additional comments?

Keep up the good work guys.
