When a peer with ties to them both ends up dead and Emmaline’s jewelry is found at the scene, Miles is honor bound to offer for her and lend her his protection. Despite her refusal, desire pulls at them and scandal surrounds them, and when Miles is summoned to once more embark upon a secret mission for the Crown, he must shed everything that will become a liability, but keeping Emmaline out of trouble - and out of his mind - is easier said than done.

I loved it!

I found this audiobook very entertaining... so much in fact as soon I finished I went to lunch & purchased the 2nd audiobook; which I'll begin on my way home!!! the characters are endearing & caring. the villains are just that!

An entertaining story

This was a good paced story. I liked Lady Emmaline, she was one of a kind and very daring. She had know Miles, Earl of Archewyne since childhood but they haven’t seen each other for some years. Emmaline believes she is under a curse. I enjoyed their connection and the lengths Miles went to, to help her with her quest. They do have an attraction but there is a rival who wants to marry Miles. There some very dangerous moments. Although some matters are resolved, others are not and are obviously continuing in the next book. The narrator had an easy voice to listen to and changed his voice for the different characters. Altogether, an entertaining story.

Captivated by an Adventurous Lady

Firstly I wish to thank thank the author for the chance to listen to this book.
This book started a bit confusing to me. Miles is hosting a birthday party for himself but finds a woman in his home stealing from him. He recognizes her from his childhood. He leaves his party and follows her as she breaks into a Museum. I found this very unlikely at first but kept on reading. Emmy is convinced her family is plagued by a curse. It can only be stopped when two mummies are returned to their resting place. I soon became caught up in the story and enjoyed it. Narration was pretty good also.

Captivating

Jealousy, greed, and pure evil fueled the villains.
This was intriguing and suspenseful with romance too. Lady Em was beyond unconventional and wickedly entertaining and captivating. This was a great adventure I enthusiastically followed. I look forward to more of Emmy and Miles. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Exciting book - but no real ending

I enjoyed this book very much. The hero is heroic, the heroine is stubborn, the little girl and lion cub are adorable, and the villains are villainous. The tone was light-hearted in some parts and terrifying in others.
However, the book ended in the middle of the story. I enjoy reading series , but I felt this was not a complete story.

Love this couple...

looking forward to this series and more adventure with Miles and Emmeline. I can't wait to read the next one.
