Wonderful!

Wonderful classic. Eloquently written tale of swashbuckling written by Sabatini. BJ Harrison does a mesmerizing job of pulling the reader into a world where pirates behave like gentleman and action abounds. As he reads, you can picture it on a silver screen reminiscent of a bygone era.

Rather entertaining

This was a good story, not great. It felt like pirates of the Caribbean sort of. It was the kind of story where you know what's going to happen but it's still entertaining to listen to. The narration is great. I love the accents that guy does. He's pretty good at them. I'm glad I listened to this book.

The Epitome of Swashbuckling Adventure!

Loved the story! Riveting and hard to put down.
My only criticism:
BJ Harrison is my favorite narrator but I hate. Hate. HATE his impression of Peter Blood. Horrible high-pitched Irish accent that robs him of a lot of his badassery. It actually detracted from my enjoyment of the story.

Exactly what I needed!

I am a big history buff and aside from ancient history I’m also very into pirate history. I was looking for an adventure hook as a way to take a break from the lesson based, non fiction history that I have been reading and listening to. This was exactly that. Following in the footsteps of real events, this novel had it all. The adventures were exciting. The gravity of consequences explained were powerful and the performance by the narrator, with all of the accents made it even more captivating. While in some ways, I feel like the author could have went even further with the story and the ending, overall I was very satisfied and left with a sense of wonder, such as one gets after partaking in something new. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to immerse themselves into a fun dose of adventure and pirate history.

Simple and satisfying read

Great narrator. The book itself is not deep material, a middle schooler could follow the story. It is however a satisfying tale of revenge, romance and piracy. A perfect audiobook to listen to while you do other simple tasks, without fear of missing details.

this is such a wonderful story.
however, i don’t think i can listen to this particular narrator again. he pronounced “Cinco” wrong and it was maddening.

I first read the story as a child. Now many years later it still holds it’s value being an amazing and entertaining tale. Very recommend!
