Like Roswell meets Lost in Space
Four months have passed since the E’mani - those pale alien freaks - destroyed the Earth and scooped up the remains. Elizabeth “Beta” Camden was one of those taken. But she escapes and confronts her prior captors successfully with the help of their enemies. Yet she knows the E’mani won’t forget about her. She should stay vigilant and ready. Her heart refuses to listen. Beta falls in love with Marin - he of the hot hands and slit eyes.
Too bad she was right.
This time the E’mani don’t come in force. This time the E’mani slip in silently. And any hope she had of a peaceful life is lost. Beta knows what she has to do, and it isn’t play house. She leaves in the dead of night to find the E’mani stronghold and end them once and for all. But love is a tricky bitch. And Marin refuses to let her throw her life away. It takes a threat to his safety to make her realize, if she can’t forget her past, she won’t have a future.

Her pronunciation is awful. She has some type of lisp. It's hard to listen.
How fucking enraging! This man is supposed to love and worship her and the moment they have an issue she becomes a cheating puke. And the day some skank runs up making out with him in front of her she just...goes to bed with him. She doesn't even confront him!! I knew I shouldn't have read the next one in the series after how big of a puke Finn was in the first one.
I really hate this narrator!!

Spoiler!
There are at least 3 if not 4 books in this series. So, this book will leave you hanging as the first one did.
In this book, Beta finds her groove with Marin and starts settling into her new life. But, the E'mani are not finished. Beta starts remembering more stuff and also learns more about her powers.
I was disappointed in both Bata and Marin in the way they handled their first serious problem/argument.
This book was supposed to increase our need to listen to the next book and up the curiosity. While there were nuggets, overall I felt this book was quite disjointed. Just didn't flow.
Narrator.... I kinda liked Melissa Moran. She has a bit of a lisp with certain words. She was able to differentiate male/female voices well. My biggest problem with her was her inability to let the listener know what was current time and what was a Beta flashback. It confused me quite a bit.
Couldn't put it down
