About this listen

After receiving the title of Margrave de Valier, Max has set off on campaign as part of the royal army commanded by the Duke de Clairmont, Marshal of Vestonia. Max's assignment is to take control of his new lands, which are known popularly as Shadow Pass and which are being held by the Knights of the Order of the Scarlet Shield.

Max's path will take him through Bergonia, a land wracked by the chaos of war. The Atalian legions dominate this land, under the command of Ricardo di Lorenzo, the Golden Lion, the most renowned and successful of all Alfonso V's commanders.

To make it to his destination, Max will have to travel a road fraught with danger, where any misstep could be the last step for him and his entire unit.

This has hands down become one of my favourite reincarnation book series. For once it's an intelligent cunning and competent MC, Instead of the clueless fish out of water trope, with the endless whining and complaining that is so common in this genre.

Fantastic!

narration was exceptional, especially in the different accents. the MC, while more than a bit OP mostly got there by actually being smart. highly recommended.

excellent narration and a smart MC

This installment holds up just as well as the rest of the series. Even this far into the story, there is never a dull moment.

Just as good as the rest.

This series keeps on getting better. The narrator does a fantastic job of read/telling the story.

Everything!

The names of characters are hard to follow at times. The stories are generally about 8 to 9 hrs a book. I enjoy listening to the world this author has created but wish the books were longer.

I really enjoy this series its well written and the narration is excellent

solid

I love the military focus of this book. plenty of politics and scheming that I love from the others are still here, but now the MC is (basically) leading an army on a military campaign. if I had to nitpick, I kind of wish some of the enemies in this book had more of a presence and presented more of a threat to the MC, but I can't lie and say my primal monkey brain doesn't love powerful foes repeatedly underestimating the MC and getting recked one after another

favorite book in the series
