About this listen

Prophecy, a strange and powerful thing, one that changed everything for Serena. She not only discovered she is a child of prophecy but that the old Olympian gods thought to be myths were very real. But what was truly surprising was she was now one of them, thanks to her mother Thetis, goddess of the seas and queen of the 50 Nereids.

Prophesied to be stronger than her estranged father, Zeus himself, with divine powers that could disrupt the very order of the Olympians and the world itself. Serena must learn quickly how to control the overwhelming powers building inside her. But she quickly discovers she doesn’t have to do it alone.

If only cosmic powers were the worst of what Serena had to deal with, but with her existence revealed to the gods, many seek to kill her before she learns just how powerful she truly is. The only way to do that is to try and convince them she has no intention of destroying them—would they listen, or would she have to take on the very gods themselves to survive?

Review

**A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE AUTHOR FOR PROVIDING ME WITH A FREE COPY OF THIS BOOK. AND AUDIOBOOK OBSESSION WITH A COPY OF THE AUDIO**

This book picks up directly after the first. Literally. I love it when books do that and continue the story right off the bat. It seems like Catherine learned a lot from publishing her first novel as this one was just as good. I loved the continuing story of Serena and Titan. This one really focuses more on their bond and determining their feelings for each other or if it's the bond that is working. Not only are they trying to discover how they actually feel but Serena has to come to accords with how powerful she is. And yes, she is powerful. But that's really it about this book. Some other things happen but that is the majority of the book. Feelings and Power. It didn't feel as inspiring as the first book did. I really did like how more of the other Gods were introduced and more of their backstory. As Serena is learning, so did the audience. However, it is clear that this installment is setting up for an explosive ending.

There really wasn't too much development between Serena and Titan. I still absolutely adore them both and can't wait to see how powerful they get together but individually, there wasn't too much character growth. A lot of the book was more accepting what is happening rather than evolving. Which is okay. This book was meant for that and it accomplished as much.

Overall, Burden of the Truth by Catherine Gagnon was a great second installment. It was nice to learn more about the other Gods and their involvement with Serena. However, not much really happened in this book. There was probably one explosive scene but other than that this was really more about Serena accepting her powers and Titan leading her all while trying to sort out how they really feel about each other. This book seemed like it was more of a build up for the final book which I cannot wait to read! If you enjoyed the first book, I would absolutely recommend picking up this one!

AUDIO REVIEW
I'm so glad the same narrators did this book. They delivered perfectly on the first book and this one was just as amazing. Some of the accents threw me off a little but other than that I did a mixture of audio and physicals When I couldn't listen to the book, I picked it up and honestly really enjoyed both formats!

4.5 Stars - Great Addition to the Series

Catherine Gagnon has done a great job with this second installation to TDOotO series. The character work and story line were well written and kept me hooked from start to finish. Jamie Renell and Suzanne T. Fortin have done a fantastic job breathing life into the characters and kept me coming back for more. I hope we are able to keep the same narrators throughout the entire series.

I received a copy of tis audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Very enjoyable!!

Great sequel!!
Burden of Truth continues the story where Hanging in the Balance ended. I am thoroughly enjoying this series so far and this newest installment had quite a few plot twist that kept me on my toes and leave a few possibilities still open. I am definitely looking forward to more!!
Very enjoyable audio narration as well!!

Another interesting greek mythology story!

Catherine Gagnon continues The Divine Order of the Olympians series with her unique mix of greek mythology, action, and romance. Overall I enjoyed the story from start to finish and book 2 added more to the series. I look forward to book 3 in the series. Narrated by: Jamie Renell and Suzanne T. Fortin continue to do a good job with the narration and their respective characters.

Burden of the Truth

okay I have to admit this was really good. but I want more. I hope there's going to be another book. because I feel like this book could go on more. I at least want the 2 A holes to get punished for what they did. but yes I loved it very much. the narrator's did a really good job too.

TRUTH AND GODS

THE STORIES ARE REALLY JUST FANTASTIC! THE ONLY ISSUE I REALLY HAVE WITH THEM IS THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE SEX SCENES.
THE NARRATORS DID A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THE STORY!

Better than the First!!

Wow. This book. I am unwell. So many things happened and I am genuinely concerned as to what will happen to Serena (and Triton) in the next one. They have the Fates on their side...but even then I know they will have to keep suffering before this series comes to an end however many books from now.
I enjoyed the twists (granted, not at first; looking at you, Hera and Ares!) because they allowed for Serena to grow (literally and figuratively). She was able to grow even with all the obstacles put in front of her (intentionally and unintentionally). Triton was also an interesting character; seeing the dynamic he has with his parents was pretty entertaining.

The story is told in third person POV, with switching narrators.

TW: there is mention of assault in this book from the previous one.

This is the second book in the series and the first needs to be read before this one. You will be completely lost without it.

The narrators, again, do a fantastic job! I enjoyed them and I hope they continue with the series!

Great Series!

This is the second book in The Divine Order of the Olympians series. The characters are enigmatic and well developed. The storyline is original, intricate and captivating. There is a lot going on in this story. The world building is fantastic, and complex. This is a great mythical romance. Jamie Renell and Suzanne T. Fortin did an excellent job with the narration. #TheFlock

Mermaids!

This is the second book in the series and you’ll want to read the first book to have a good grasp of what’s going on. This story is so good! There are some mermaids you will recognize from other tales, and familiar Gods as well. Definitely worth a read/listen if you like sea-Gods and amazing writing.
