Beautiful, Lyrical Voice and Vivid Stories
I loved listening to the writer narrate her own beautiful, lyrical stories of her childhood as a "brown girl dreaming." This was my first book by this prolific, award-winning author, and I look forward to reading many more of her books.

Enjoyable, easy to listen to
I really enjoyed this, after waiting a long time to start it. It is short, and I finished it in two days. The author's voice is clear and she is easy to relate to, even beyond differences.

A wonderful, beautiful listen that brought me to tears...
Whether you are old or young, white or brown, boy or girl, Jacqueline Woodson's words will hypnotize and haunt you. The stories of growing up black in the north and south, bridging lifetimes in Ohio, South Carolina, and New York are told through poetry in small but powerful pieces. You won't regret taking this journey with such an amazing writer in her own voice.
