About this listen

Wedding planner Avery Crosslin may be a rising star in Houston society, but she doesn't believe in love - at least not for herself. When she meets wealthy bachelor Joe Travis and mistakes him for a wedding photographer, she has no intention of letting him sweep her off her feet. But Joe is a man who goes after what he wants, and Avery can't resist the temptation of a sexy southern charmer and a hot summer evening.

After a one night stand, however, Avery is determined to keep it from happening again. A man like Joe can only mean trouble for a woman like her, and she can't afford distractions. She's been hired to plan the wedding of the year - a make-or-break event.

But complications start piling up fast, putting the wedding in jeopardy, especially when shocking secrets of the bride come to light. And as Joe makes it clear that he's not going to give up easily, Avery is forced to confront the insecurities and beliefs that stem from a past she would do anything to forget.

The situation reaches a breaking point, and Avery faces the toughest choice of her life. Only by putting her career on the line and risking everything - including her well-guarded heart - will she find out what matters most.

It’s Been Years….

I started the Travis series years ago and had been meaning to catch the final installment. Imagine my delight in catching it in the audio book version! (I’m still planning to get the hardcover). The Brittany Pressley’s performance is amazing, the acting, the voiced characters combined with Lisa Klepas’ writing is a masterpiece! No criticism here… just sad that this book series has ended…

*would have loved to read about Ryan’s story!

Long overdue!

I was worried that since it had been so long since reading the other stories in this series that it would be awkward to jump back in. But I was wrong! Such a great story, just like the rest of her works! I also loved the narrator she did a great job with all the different voices!

Great story, poor reading

The reader’s trying too hard to get the accent right, she comes as unnatural and exaggerated southern accent. Couldn’t finish the book, would have been better to read in her natural voice. Reading was good on other Travis series.

I have read them all and loved them all. Didn’t love the voice portrayal of Jack in this adaptation but still loved the story.

It was a realistic finish to the series in my opinion. I wish there were more series to read, I have read and re-read them all!

Didn't like this one as much

I liked the other 3 books in this series, but not this one. It didn't hold my interest.

Similar to "Secrets of a Summer Night"

This was my first foray into Kleypas outside of her Regency genre books. I love every single one of them and gave the modern day ones a shot finally. The story was pretty good, but the male lead, Joe, fell flat for me.
Kleypas did copy a scene from her book "Secrets of a Summer Night".... it is identical in many ways and was odd to see it play out again.... it is the part where Simon tells Annabelle that she has 1 minute to get upstairs while at a hotel or he will have her there and then in public, and then Simon stalks her (in a sexy way) as she playfully runs away from him up the stairs to get out of public. In this book it's the same thing with Avery and Joe. Joe gives a surprise visit to Avery and tells her she has 30 seconds to get out of the public setting or he will have her and the stalks her to the bedroom....Oh well. Overall Lisa Kleypas's style is generally witty and engaging so even that detail doesn't deter me from wanting to ready the other books in this series.
The narrator nails the character voices. Bravo.

How did it go so wrong?

I want to start off by say that I LOVED the other books in this series. The characters and the choices they made added up. The stories made sense. Where the other books felt real, this was lacking in human connection. It felt as thought LK needed to push out the last book and wasn’t married to the character development like she was with the other Travis siblings. It would’ve been so nice if there was a deviation to the “I’m a manly man and I know what you need rather than listening.” Where that approach fit the other Travis stories, this felt like kids playing at how adults make decisions. Also WHY oh WHY was the narration so bad? Sophia is from San Antonio, her and Avery grew up in different states, not different countries. Also, every single Travis sibling and partner sounded annoying rather than people that were very likable. I’m so sad to have spent a credit on this, and I’m even more sad that a story that started with the majestic storytelling of Liberty, to whatever nonsense this book was filled with.

Not Disappointed. Lisa is one of my favorite writ

I thought the book was as good as her other Texas Travis stories. I especially enjoyed the narrator. She made the store come alive!

Loved every minute of this book!

It amazes me how anyone could dislike this book, especially fans of the Travis series! I loved every minute of it, and felt the narrator did a fantastic job bringing all the characters to life. I loved the characters, the dialog, the plot, the humor, and the romance. Thank you Lisa Kleypas and Brittany Pressley for hours of enjoyment.
