About this listen

The facts.

The future.

The fight to fix America - before it's too late.

In the words of Harvard economist Niall Ferguson, the United States is “an empire on the edge of chaos.” Why? Glenn Beck thinks the answer is pretty simple: Because we’ve turned our backs on the Constitution.

Yes, our country is financially broke, but that’s just a side effect of our broken spirit, our broken faith in government, the broken promises by our leaders, and a broken political system that has centralized power at the expense of individual rights.

There is a lot of work ahead, but we can’t move forward until we first understand how we got here. Starting with the American Revolution, Glenn takes readers on an express train through 234 years of history, culminating with the Great Recession and the bipartisan recklessness of Presidents Bush and Obama. It’s the history lesson we all wished we’d had in school. (Did you know, for example, that FDR once made a key New Deal policy decision based on his lucky number?)

Along the way, you’ll see how everything you thought you knew about the political parties is a lie, how Democrats and Republicans alike used to fight for minimum government and maximum freedom, and how both parties have been taken over by a cancer called progressivism.” By the end, you’ll understand why no president, no congress and no court can fix this problem alone.

First Beck Book Read

What did you love best about Broke?

I really loved how in the beginning of the book Beck talks about the Romans and there government. How the policies of finance lead to fall of a great empire. Then to detail the fiscal policy, in short, of each president from the first to the last; a great relation.

What did you like best about this story?

Again, it was the beginning.

Which character – as performed by Glenn Beck and Brian Sack – was your favorite?

Glenn Beck. I love hearing him talk.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book definitely gave me a better insight to the polices of President and how debt really is crushing America.

Finally book that has done the reasearch...

I loved this book. It really spelled it all out and did it in very logical arguments. The data is there. I know data can be manipulated to suit one's purposes but it seemed rather thorough. I enjoyed how Mr Beck didn't follow party lines all the time and outlined things that both republican and democrat presidents did wrong in bringing us to the brink of financial collapse. I enjoyed hearing the pep talk about how the federal government should not be telling us much of anything yet we seem to be complacent in letting them take all the power they want. I was also delighted to finally hear someone else bring up the constitutionality of property taxes. If you think about it, you can own your home but because you can never really own the land, you by default don't/can't own your home because it can be taken by the government for failure to pay your property tax. It is a crock. Anyway, I would encourage you to all read this book. It changed my views and opinions and it might open your eyes a little wider and light a small flame under your ???

Focused and Fair

This book spends more time sharing facts and understanding so that you can make your own conclusions. Very well written and backed by data. I was thinking this was more of an opnion book, but it is non-partisan and fact based. The audible version is a great companion for the actual book, and allows you to study the data as well as understanding the message.

THE GRIM TRUTH

after getting thru the history lesson (the first half of the book) Beck starts to hit the true nature of how the GLOBALIST (the billionaires) control you and me by pay to play politics. A VERY SAD BOOK BUT IT IS THE TRUTH. The Billionaires (globalist's) via our politicians( who use inside information to make themselves RICH off of our backs and sweat) are manipulating OUR LIVES thru the media the Globalist's own....Beck calls them the MASTER PUPPTEERS. They put on a happy show in the front stage (your TV) but in the back stage the ugly truth is hidden...theft, fraud, treason, lies, master manipulation of YOU AND ME. And for the most part, AMERICAN'S DON'T GIVE A DAMN. YOU ARE BEING RIPPED OFF BY THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS....THE BOOK IS THE TRUTH.....SADLY....THANKS GLEN BECK ...FINALLY THE TRUTH....

Everyone should read this book

Glen Beck is very informative, clear and issues our country a challenge to fix what has somehow went off our rightful path. Simply put and easy to understand. Though the truth isn't always pleasant to hear, it does open one's eyes to possibilities. Thank you

Scary to say the least

Glenn Beck fills this book with many facts and numbers. It does get a bit hard to follow from time to time and the numbers get a bit boaring and mondain, but for the most part the book is well written and enjoyable. It is well worth the time and in the end you will, unfortunately, feel like we as a nation is doomed if things don't change.

Eye Opening

The book covers a ton of detail, and it explains just how far we have come. The entire system is unbelievably broken and is not what it is advertised or designed to be by our founding fathers. Very educational with great history lessons which are then brought forward to show their relevance and application today. Read it or continue to be quietly led to bankruptcy by our progressive system.

It's Okay

There are lots of historical references (I did not verify), but it seems some of the opinions expressed were a bit off the wall and incomplete. Being fiscally conservative and anti-big government, the book is a good read (listen) but doesn't ring well with the conclusions. Question government motivations and question the thought processes and conclusions of this book.

If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It . . .

. ., . But so much is broken in our country, particularly with regards to the massive debt we have, which we may never be able to pay off.

Glenn helps us see what the problems are, and offers ways to fix them. If we could follow this advice, there might be hope for fixing the financial problems of our country.

I haven't loved everything Glenn has written, but I think this book is a must read, and a must do! There is little hope if we don't put some of these principles to work.
