About this listen

Penny Connor is putting the pieces of her life back in logical order. At least that's the plan. Six months ago, her world imploded when she walked in on her fiance with another woman. After calling off her wedding, she spent a week acting completely out of character in the Tuscan countryside with a scorchingly hot man. They didn't even exchange last names.

Ethan Hartnell has grudgingly returned home. He's got an image to fix after being traded to the San Francisco Strikers, due to some questionable behavior. He plans to keep his nose to the ice, focusing on the career he loves. Everything is going according to plan, until he walks into a friend's bar and sees her. She'd left him in her bed in Italy, with a note, and run.

Which is exactly what she does when they see each other again.

It should be a sign. So why does he keep chasing her?

It’s a hattie

Penny & Ethan meet on holiday, they both agree to a vacation fling, no last name, no phone numbers, no detailed information. But Ethan gets traded to San Fran and Penny’s friends have ties to a new bar, 2 worlds collide.

Good Listening

Sweet love story within the hockey world . Characters were well developed, and easily liked. Just enough spice but mostly a whole lotta heart. It was a good listen.

Really enjoyable story and well read

I have now read the available series on Audible and I loved it. Just the right blend of story, romance, spice and tension. I hope that she brings the whole series to Audible. The stories have substance and blend the right mix without the angst and avoiding the over-the-top drama that is draining.

As the first book I liked that the characters from this book start new stories in the series and its gives a great backdrop. While the others play a background part they also provide color and context without overwhelming the focus of the main characters.

In each case the trope was thoughtfully considered and a slightly different pitch is introduced. I like the way that the characters remain true to their back-story and there is no need to introduce new or twisting turns to follow the story.

I really enjoyed Penny’s story and the way that she dealt with her challenges. I really liked the way that her and Ethan wrote a new story from a rocky start.

The reader was really good and never tried to over-play the characters.

Had potential

I love a good hockey story. This one was hard to get through. Storyline was ok, heroine defense mechanisms and overthinking got pretty annoying, but felt bad she had a shitty family. The story line for the hero’s family just kind of fell off somewhere. Not a good choice for solo narration. She’s ok, but a bit robotic and I’m cringing at the thought of finishing this entire series with just her narrating. A dual narration would make this much more tolerable. No worry of having a book hangover, more like relief I’m finally done. I do have interest in the next storyline coming up, but will be taking a break with a different book to get a break from this narrator.
