About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Allison Brennan comes the newest audiobook in the Lucy Kincaid series.

Bella Caruso survived a nightmare of abuse and betrayal. Today, she has dedicated her life to saving other young women from the hell that almost killed her - first as an officer of the law, then by stepping outside the law and into the darkness where true evil dwells. Now, it appears that the darkness has taken her once again.

JT Caruso often worries about his sister, given her line of work. This time, when he learns that Bella is working undercover to find a missing girl involved in a dangerous prostitution ring, JT asks FBI Special Agent Lucy Kincaid for help. Even with Lucy's extensive experience in running down human traffickers, finding Bella will not be easy. Not only because she is in too deep. But because Bella, who will not rest until she saves the girl, doesn't want to be found....

From start to finish, Breaking Point is an audiobook that will get your heart racing.

Story good Narration Awful

The story was quite good. But the narrator ruined it. She was way to breathy. It was all I could do to finish the book. I will never listen to this narrator again.

Warning of severe Domestic Abuse, Child Rape, Child Abuse and extreme Violence

*WARNING* child rape, child abuse, sec trafficking, sale of human beings, and domestic abuse***

This book is a lot more violent than others in the Lucy series. Please be weary if you are a survivor of domestic abuse, this listen/read will be an extreme trigger. I rarely leave reviews unless the story is 5 stars, terrible/awful narration, OR like now- needs to come with a warning***

****SPOILER REVIEW BELOW for those who want to skip this book bc of above warning of rape/abuse/extreme violent scenes in gory details.

SPOILER below **

In a nutshell- This story focused on JT Caruso of RCK and helping his little sister, Bella who’s taking down a prostitution ring while deep undercover.

Bella is a survivor who was rescued from prostitution ring when shes 13 (yes, trigger warning for child rape, please listen with caution) by JT and Cain, and flash forward 18 years-Bella went from a kidnapped pre teen forced into prostitution, to Police officer, turned PI and story gets in deep with a prostitution ring as an undercover operative. Bella’s cover is a fake Dr who tends to the women/children (very gut wrenching for underage girls that are children to be involved) that get hurt or worse when forced to “work”. And is hired by a “vigilante” .com rich guy (Simon) who lost his little girl in similar circumstances, and now helps runaways that have been kidnapped and sold into the sex trade who have relatives that want to find and rescue them after police stop looking. Simon sends Bella undercover to help recover the lost girls. Bella is 13 months into the gig to Infiltrate the ring in efforts to rescue a 13 yr okd girl named Hope “pixie” who was sold by her slimy/rapist/bottom feeder step father who then told police and Hopes grandparents she ran away. Hopes grandparents hire Bella’s boss,Simon, who send Bella’s in for the job. When it gets dark and dangerous- She calls on a contact on the outside who gets her brother JT involved in her rescue out of the undercover op, and then JT brings in RCK, and then the FBI and DEA to help take it all down. But Bella keeps dodging her rescues when the Calvary comes bc she feels she cant stop until she finds Hope, dead or alive.

Lots of drama and horrific scenes. Bella is hot and cold about whats she’s doing after being in for too long and unable to stop her search without knowing what happened to Hope. Bella learns the head sex ring trafficker guy Hershey (sp?) and head head sex trafficker “Z” (who ends up being a pimp from Bella’s past who climbed in the sex trafficking world to the top guy) Want to take the prostitution ring from LA down the southwestern coast through Texas. They soon attempt to take over the entire sex trade/specific industry of a certain type of trafficking- pulling in FBI, DEA, RCK from El Paso to San Antonio. Bella has climbed up in ranks under cover and JT wants her out but she keeps fighting to find Hope and take down the operation from the inside- even when the stakes are life and death.

Lucys new boss (bring back Noah!!!) is the WORST and out her in desk duty for lying when she went to save the day in an “in between” story that happens before this story but is discussed. New boss is controlling and trying to change Lucy from a “maverick” to a pencil pushing fed that never break rules even when lives are at risk, like that’ll happen. Anyways Lucy’s boss is all about icing her out but wants to go to war with Rick Stockton and Lucy when Lucy gets requested to join task force with Brad Donnelly (DEA) , Suzanne ( FBI NYC), and sister in law Kate as head of task force from DC - all to help officially take down the Prostitution Ring.

Worst narration ever

I usually won't complain about anyone willing to read out loud to me. It's a luxury. But Ann Marie Lee needs to be narrating books for kindergarten and younger. So melodramatic; so breathy; so many pregnant pauses I wanted to puke. I couldn't hear the story through the narration. To be fair, the story may read well and be excellent, I couldn't tell.

UNBELIEVABLE MEDIOCRE DRAMA

Unfortunately for avid readers this book has a totally unoriginal story line that authors keep repeating. It's amateur writing with over the top drama, which the narrator only made worse. Ann Marie Lee needs to be reading nursery rhymes or children's stories if she must be that "expressive". YUK.
