About this listen

The endgame has begun.

The battle for the emperor's throne grows ever fiercer. The City of Countless Souls cowers behind locked doors as the whims of the downtrodden and the powerful bring the great game of Araxes to its chaotic conclusion.

With the soulblade at his hip and magic in his soul, Caltro's freedom is almost within reach. But as Temsa reign of murder clashes with Widow Horix's plans, the locksmith's fate becomes all the more entwined with the needs of dead gods, the Cult, and vengeful royals.

Caltro realizes his struggle is not just for his redemption, but for that of the entirety of the Far Reaches.

While the Core Districts descend into chaos, debts left unpaid in the desert haunt Nilith's long-awaited arrival in the city. A new foe is hunting her through the streets, an enemy with enough power to rival even that of the Cloudpiercer.

And yet all their struggles pale in comparison to the dark omen that is spreading through the Arctian Empire:

The River Nyx is drying up.

Absolutely Brilliant

This series was incredible! It is full of intriguing characters and turbulent situations and a lot of sarcasm. The readers do a fantastic job bringing it to life. The author really gives it to you, coming and going 😉.

an epic adventure

The diverse POV was refreshing & interesting. I didn't feel like I learned to love any one particular character (although Moira Quirk's performance is phenomenal!) BUT once I realized it's more like a D&D campaign adventure and not a single hero adventure, it was much more impressive in the world.

It took forever, but this series finally pays off.

Ok. After two books of mostly slow plodding development, the Chasing Graves series finally pays off.

I gave poor reviews of the two first books of this series, and I think it was a fair take. It really took forever for this series to get going, and had it not been for lack of better books currently available I would have given up. In fact, it is the excellent narration from Moira Quirk and Samuel Roukin that has carried this series this far. That said, Breaking Chaos, the final book in this series was surprisingly very entertaining with nice pacing. It makes you wonder why author Ben Galley was unable to recreate this in the first two books.

Just a guess, but I believe the Chasing Graves Trilogy was actually meant to be a single book. It would explain the the slow pacing of the first two books which are primarily set up for this one. It would also explain the abrupt endings of the first two books. Perhaps the book had become too long and Galley decided to expand it into a series, or perhaps the publishers broke it up for maximum profit. Perhaps I'm completely off base all together.

Either way, I may have enjoyed this series more, and felt better about the credits I used on it, had it been a single book or even a pair of books. As it is, even with a pretty good payoff ending book, I would rate this as average as a series.

Awesome!

This was a great ending to this story. Built around a unique concept with cool characters, I really enjoyed the story this trilogy told. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new fantasy story to read.

If you like stories from the villains POV

If you like stories primarily from the villains point of views, these books are for you. The first two books were a slog through selfish, vengeful and unredeemable people. However, there were a few characters that made me want to finish the series and find out what happened to them in the final book. Otherwise I would have never finished the first book.

The books are written well, the world was interesting if dirty. There was some humor but a lot of violence. I liked the animals probably the most. There were some things that didn't make sense to me but may be I wasn't paying close enough attention.

The narrators were excellent which was another reason to finish the series. While others may notice the differences in voices of characters narrated by both, I didn't. It was a smooth transition for me. And I love English accents!
