About this listen

First in a new Regency romance series featuring noble gentlemen and the ladies who help them love again.

Widower Benjamin Romilly, earl of Furness, lives a melancholy life. The loss of his wife in childbirth four years before has robbed him of all happiness. He can barely look at his son, who resembles his mother so strongly and is a constant reminder of her loss.

But Jean Saunders, a relative of Benjamin's late wife, erupts into the grief-stricken household to restore order and take Benjamin's son away. From all Jean has heard, she assumes he won't care - but she doesn't know how wrong she is.

As they come together to raise Geoffrey right, their budding attraction is undeniable. And when a nosy neighbor gets in their way, Jean has to face her darkest fears before all is made right.

I like my historical romance novels to have a little bit more steam romance and passion and there really none in this book. The other thing that was really annoying about this book was little jeffrey. he is such a brat that it just turned me off of the story.

Story is okay not what I was looking for.

I finished even though the storyline was a little convoluted withseveral POV's. Nevertheless, it's an interesting story that delves into how grief can become debilitating, about honor, and the care and teaching of a 5-year old boy. Much kissing but not many sex scenes, which was okay with me. The other reviews of this novel is recommended reading. Rosalyn Landor is much much better than most female narrators, I haven't found a perfect narrator yet. However, RL is on my list of top 5, after listening to well over 600 books. There are at least 5 or 6 female narrators who I have learned to avoid no matter how much I want to listen to the book!

A Couple of Hours Too Long

If my 5 year old behaved as Jeffery in this story he would not be able to sit down for a month.

The only thing saving this audiobook is Rosalyn Landor. The “heroine” is completely annoying, as well as the dragging out of her backstory.

This story is lacking substance

I Enjoyed this story though it was not amazing or my favorite. I would recommend it though. I did not enjoy the narrator. All of her male voices sound the same and all sound unpleasant.

This book has it all. It has romance, entertaining and likeable characters (especially Geoffrey and Tom). and lighthearted repartee. Roz Landor is great with lighthearted repartee, and she brought life to Ms. Ashford's delightful characters. I've listened to this book may times but this is my first review.....it's now in my favories

Lovely story, great characters

this excellent story has three main characters, hero, heroine and a 5 year old very smart but very mischievous little boy. the story was well written and well paced. I had never read this author before, but she is now on my top 10 list. the narrator as usual did a great job acting out the story and bringing all its characters to life.

I can't say enough about Rosalyn Landor. I even mention her in reviews where she is not the narrator. This is another great performance. She does so much with the voice of the little boy, that I can feel everything he is going through just by the way that RL changes the tone .
The story is great and shows how 2 mature adults with communication and patience can come together. I believed that this was about learning to love someone, and not just 2 beautiful people lusting after each other. It has compassion and understanding on the part of all the characters. The reader can tell that all of them are coming together to become a family ...very touching and powerful.

Fantastic story and narration

This is book 1 in a new series. Each main character is connected through grief and brought together by the Earl of Macklin, the uncle of the main character (also an Earl) of this tale, who hoped to assist each young lord with his journey to overcome this sad state.

This story is well written. There are several surprises, twists and turns. One of my favourite characters is Geoffrey, the Earl's son. He is tenacious, creative yet sweet. His interest and observation of vocabulary creates a kindred spirit to this reader. I would recommend this book as well as the entire series.

I absolutely love this series! The characters are wonderful & love the addition of the small unruly child becoming tame with love, lessons & caring from parenting. Very well done & narration is excellent!!
