4 hours of simpering and 30 minutes of kicking ass. Not sure I would have purchased it if I knew.

I had a very difficult time getting into the main character. Or any character. They seemed uninteresting and very generic. She never struck me as Bounty Hunter material. In fact, she was whining and simpering through most of the book. The character was struck with crippling fear the first 4 hours. She was a useless waste of space.

It wasn’t until the last 30 minutes or something that she came into her powers. Then she went from 0-60 in the last 30 minutes.

The narrator did a great job however, no complaints. I appreciate her ability to create new voices and separate character voices from each other. I just wish the story was more interesting, and the character making more contribution to the story.

Worth one credit?

I really wanted to like this story. I was hesitate to use a credit on a book that was just over 4 hours. The performance from the narrator was outstanding. The story, however, was almost infuriating. Classic weakling main character with dreams of being tough for noble reasons and you keep waiting for the coin to flip but it doesn’t happen until the last 20 minutes of the story. I almost quit with 1.5 hours left and requested a refund.

Spoilers:
You spend 97% of the story listening to narration mixed with crippling fear and helplessness until a quickening of dues ex machina level power from the MC saves everyone’s asses. Not after a montage of hard work, determination or cleverness mixed with courage. Just the most useless person ever with semi-noble motivation going from lead brick for 4hrs 20 min to kryptonian wizard of awesomeness for 10 minutes with no reason or foreshadowing whatsoever. Also, the bounty hunter academy tests make no sense. 1. Super chill, Bring me a dead “space rat”. 2. Take this dollar store iron man armor and play capture the flag off a giant robot dragons tail in teams of 5?!?!?

The whole thing reminds me of one of those AI sci-fi story’s that skip back and forth across the line of creative and nonsensical. I’m sorry for the long rant. I know I’m being hyper critical because I wanted to like this story and it sharted all over my enthusiasm.
