Great series

LA Meyer was a great storyteller, artist and very nice man. His Jacky books are clever and fun. Katherine Kellgren is the perfect narrator.

wonderfully read!

I hate that I'm ending the series. I'm one more book and then the rides over. I know all good things must come to an end but I have enjoyed wonderfully this story

The flaw with writing the end of a book first.

The old Gang back together, although 'with the Gang' Jackie had the resources to account for herself more effectively.

Have you listened to any of Katherine Kellgren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to many books narrated by Katherine Kellgren.
She always does a Great job, I even select books because she narrates them.
I wish it were possible to give her more than 5 Stars.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Seriously? The ending felt contrived, out of character.

It was still fun to tag along with Jackie Faber.

Well performed as Jacky tries to put her life on track. Not all friends are as they seem.

This is such a fun & wonderful series.
Just can’t recommend it enough! And the narration is FANTASTIC.
I am very sad that both the wonderful author L.A. Meyer & & the amazing narrator,, have both left this world much too soon, KK at the young age of 48. Just so sad that no more books with be written or narrated by these two very talented people. Hope you both know wherever you are now, that your wonderful works continue to bring joy to more & more people.

Another fun but frustrating reD trying to get Jacky with Jamie. Lo e the. CHaracters, Jamey should have been himself around her.

Back in the USA

This is a good continuation of the series, with some old characters returning, some very farfetched episodes and Jacky in high spirits as always. Katherine Kellgren makes the series and has brought me so much enjoyment - only one book left to go!

I've read this 40x good

This is my 40th time re-reading the bloody jack series (ok maybe 40 is exaggerating a bit but you get the idea), and I am in love with how the story always keeps me on my toes. The narrator (Kathrine kellgren) is a magician with making these books come TO LIFE! I feel like I connect with jacky as she goes through her adventures. I love how Jacky is a very like able character but also has her faults. I am forever grateful for these books! I did like Boston jacky a lot, but I don't think it was quite as memorable as any of the other books. Also I didn't like how Jaiyme acted through this book (physically and or mentally)... that's all I can say with out giving out too many spoilers. Anyways it's a great read thank you L.A Meyer and thank you kathren!

A little too stretched out

The drama between Jackie and Jamie is a little too stretched out and the story is getting old. Overall, however, this is pretty decent. Great entertainment.

How Much Farther Jacky?

It seems that with every passing installment I go through the same cycle of trepidation leading up to the release of the latest entry in the Bloody Jack series. It continues through the beginning of each book, tempered by my reacquaintance with Katherine Kellgren's impeccable portrayal of Jacky and her world, but simmers as Mr. Meyer follows the same formula of high times, overconfidence, duplicitous scheming, Jacky's moral undoing and at least a few instances of irrational behavior re the ongoing "romance" between our plucky protagonist and Mr. James Fletcher. The latter returns to prominence, and advances the argument I think that this series is beginning to outstay its welcome: as his angst over Jacky's wildness and resulting behavior are truly beginning to feel contrived to the point of being utterly silly. Generally, I suppose, both characters are aging but not growing up.

What redeems this book for me is the sheer fun that is had along the way. There is a lot of suffering on Jacky's part but many ridiculous misadventures and hijinks. How much this can carry the book may vary from person to person depending on how tired they are of Jacky's shortcomings. I for one thought I was at my limit with #11, but found myself finishing this morning, willing to go on at least one more adventure with Jacky Faber. All the same, I hear the dates of letters in this book and think that the War of 1812 is drawing ever closer and surely this series cannot go on very much longer.


Highlights this time around are encounters with for profit fire-fighting companies of the early 19th Century, the early women's suffrage movements, anti-immigrant bias and more illicit substances.
The wonderful characterizations and emphatic reading of action sequences that has won Katherine Kellgren so much acclaim for this series remains very much in evidence, and is well worth disregarding any misgivings about going forward for series regulars. Go ahead on one more adventure with Jacky and her friends, hear songs sung and visit Jacky's Boston once more for old time's sake.
